2013 Banneker Key Scholarship

The email specifically said, “We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience the prior email may have caused.” And that was copied directly from the email. That sounds like an apology to me…

Banneker Key recipient!!!

Sent from my SGH-T989 using CC

hey jsmath, good job! im doing it next year, so iwas interested…what were your stats ? sat, gpa, ECs etc

thanks and congrats

full scholarship!!! so incredibly blessed :slight_smile: see you guys on campus next year!

For those with a full scholarship and out of state, what did you all get for your financial aid package? My award page only shows me getting around $19,000, which is really confusing me. I guess I will call on Monday.

Many schools only shows the next semester billings. May be this is the case? Let us know what you find out on Monday when you call.

It said $9,500 under both Spring and Fall, with the total at just above $19,000. I’ll be sure to post after Monday.

With the full B/K scholarship, is it possible to take summer courses at UMCP for free before the fall semester? I would like to take a class, but I am not sure if the cost will be covered. If not, I will have to go through the tedious application process at MC. Thanks!

Edit: It says on the B/K policy statement for the entering class of 2012-2013, “Students may take courses on or off-campus during the winter and summer terms to make up any necessary credits or may take courses on-campus to bring their cumulative
GPA up” (http://www.financialaid.umd.edu/policies/2012_2013/scholarships/2012-2013_BannekerKey_Policy.pdf</a>).

Does this include the summer before the freshmen fall semester?

I think the $19K Banneker Key is the instate award amount. May be they will go through and readjust for OOS at a later date.

I believe that the scholarship only covers 8 academic semesters so if you are taking summer classes, you will have to pay.

@krug You’re right. Thanks!
