I would like to know what you guys think of my chances with these stats

GPA at my school 4.0, I think my U.F is ~3.7-3.8ish
unweighted is terrible it's 3.4
SAT - 2050 single testing

Extra Curriculars
Sport but not at school
500ish service hours
Hospital etc
couple of clubs no leadership positions

no real hooks except that i'm a URM because my mom is hispanic

so worried :/

also if you guys could guess my chances at FSU and UCF those are my "safer" schools

Its difficult to tell. Those with 3.7-3.99 GPAs had a 27.7% acceptance rate in 2012 while those with similar SAT scores had a 72.4% acceptance rate. Throw in your community service hours and you’re an attractive candidate, in my opinion. Perhaps try and get a leadership position in the fall? Also, how many academic courses do you have?

“Few students are admitted purely on academic merit. While the potential for academic success is a primary consideration, UF’s comprehensive holistic application review also considers personal essays, academic awards, extracurricular activities, family background and home community. All information in the applicant’s file, academic and non-academic, is considered in relation to the size and strength of the applicant pool for that class.”

Your leadership positions and 500 service hours are SOLID. Solid, like a rock. AND you’re an academic scholar? You have nothing to worry about…just be persuasive with you essay. Your SAT’s and GPA might be enough to get you in, but those +leadership positions+500 hours+ URM=You’re in.

What you have to understand about the UF admissions process is that there are two different departments. The Academic admissions and the EC+Volunteer work+Other s*** admissions. Neither department sees the other’s work. Meaning someone looking over your GPA doesn’t know what you do outside of school, and vice versa. Both of them are reviewed separately, and then come together when making the final admission. Your grades aren’t bad by any means, and your SAT is much higher than most.

My advice is that you get your test score up more.

Let me tell you, I had a 3.3 weighted and a piece of crap 2.something unweighted. But my standardized testing is at about 99.6 percentile. I got in.

^^Damn lucky. Genius by birth, slacker by choice.
