2013 RD Decisions!

As decisions were supposed to be mailed today, they may start arriving tomorrow, and so we need a place to celebrate or grieve. =]

I know Caltech doesn't usually do these things, but since we had a EA one, I thought this cycle wouldn't be complete without a RD thread. I'm sure you guys know what to do!

good luck everyone

has anyone actually gotten the mail yet?

physics: no, because they were only mailed today! tomorrow for the earliest, probably for people who live close to caltech, and then everyone should have them in a few days.

omggg…so nervous!

I GOT IN!!!
2250 composite
AP Bio-5,US-4,Calc AB-5
worked 4 years at a research facility (Jisan Research Institute (JRI))
-finished a project building a floating windmill out of magnets
-presented and published a paper at the WCECS 2008 conference
-currently working on a thermodynamic battery
AMC12 - 118.5 AIME - 6?

I stayed home from school from exhaustion and I was watching tv when I heard the mail come. I looked outside and saw a rather bulky envelope and thought, “hmmm, that looks like an acceptance letter.” When I got it I was still skeptic because I got a lot of brochures from colleges the same way. However, there was a gray folder with an orange stripe with letters inside reading, “WELCOME TO CALTECH”. I still thought it was a brochure giving me the “details” of the university that I already know about well. When I opened it, it said, “Dear Chan-Hee (my name), It is an honor to inform you of the Admissions Committee’s decision to offer you a place in the California Institute of Technology’s Class of 2013.” Richard W. Bischoff kindly scribbled a note about my research at JRI too! I subsequently ran a victory lap, despite my exhausted condition. =D

OMG!!1 CONGRATS!!! Wow, it looks like all the stuff u did overshadows mine.

cheechee, can i ask where you live?

oh, wow, and i totally forgot: congrats!!

oh. haha. just found out on the director’s blog. they will email all the decisions on Saturday!

Make an official RD thread !!

felicitations!!! :D

Rejected

[*]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:aww, i thought i’d get in[/ul] guys, whatever you do DO NOT apply as an international student because your chances of admission drop to abysmally low levels (circa 4%). gluck to the rest of you

congrats on the waitlisting  you should be proud :P

Wow hosater, with your stats i’d think you would be accepted…well that just means i’m more screwed (I’m international also, though I didn’t apply for aid)

I’m totally expecting a rejection at this point.
Not just one of those “Oh I don’t think I have a shot but I really do and I realllllly wanna get in!”

I’d be more angry if I get accepted, because I’ll be like, “Oh jeez, thanks for the guilt, now I know I don’t deserve this as much as others.”

yeah dude kinda agree with you…well I guess only one way to find out what happens eh?

I live in Los Angeles.
hosater, I have no idea why you did not get accepted immediately. You have better stats than I do. Perhaps my hook was looked upon greater than yours (I don’t mean to brag). I wasn’t able to do the USAMO once, which was probably because I began preparing for the AMC during my 10th grade year… =[
