2013 Senate Page Program

Has anybody else heard back yet? I found out yesterday that I was nominated by Senator Harry Reid for Summer Session I!

Still waiting - but congrats!! Do you live in Nevada?

Thanks! Yes I do. What Senator did you apply to?

Neither of my states’ senators were able to sponsor anyone, so I had to apply out of state. (My chances aren’t looking too promising, as senators typically choose students from their home state to sponsor). I applied to Senators Collins, Lautenberg, Enzi, and Schumer.

Anyone heard anything from Schumer?

I’m still waiting to hear from Schumer - do you know when we’re supposed to find out? I called his office last week and left a voicemail for the coordinator but I haven’t heard back yet…

I was nominated for the summer session II by Alexander (TN) but still haven’t heard anything…any idea about the delay?

I think that once you’re nominated by a Senator, the Majority Leader of the party makes the final decision, so perhaps Alexander’s office is just waiting for confirmation by the Majority Leader? Unless they already told you that their office was given a slot (not every Senator gets a slot)…if this is the case, I’m not sure. Anyway, congratulations on your nomination and best of luck!

Alexander nominated me and I got in! Summer session II!!

442230: I was nominated for Summer Session I as well! (by Senator Mark Udall).

Is there financial aid for housing?

@awkwardpenguin13

There is no financial aid for housing because being a Senate Page is a job. As a Page, you earn money but the program takes that money and it pays for your board, education, and food. If there is any money left, they will give it back to you but it will not be much.

@tmo2112 and everyone: I’ve applied already so this won’t decide whether I want to be a page, but I’m just wondering does anyone know if you can bring electronics as a page? I know phones are allowed but I was wondering if laptops or iPods are ok. Thanks!
