Scratch that… I just reread it. It’s only for transportation and lodging. Still good deal though

Has anyone interviewed yet and if so, did they give any indication of when decisions would be made?

DS '14s app was finally marked as “In Process”. Required a little application of boot of leather to posterior of said son who checked and found out one of his LORs was not received. He got it re-sent and moved to in process within 7 days.

Given the date, I guess we will hear one way or another soon.

Hi everyone, my interview is on Monday, and I was just wondering if anybody has already gone through the interview process and can give me an idea of what to expect?

Anyone here back about the Chancellors Scholarship? My son interviewed and is anxiously waiting to hear. He really enjoyed all his meetings and is very excited about Pittsburgh.

My son interviewed on Friday and got a UPS letter today. Waiting to for him to come home so we can see what it says… Maybe good news?

Good luck, please let us know either way.

DS '14 notified Friday that he would not advance to interview. Was dated the 21st, same day that he got marked in process.

My son was advised that he was not selected for the Chancellor’s scholarship - looks like he is going to Northeastern. Good luck everyone.

I’m sorry midwestblues. Many friends with kids at NEU, all doing really well and enjoying the coops. Good luck to your son!

Well…he got the scholarship and we were very excited BUT then we received a financial aid letter that said that it was the amount of tuition/room and board MINUS a $5500 loan. Hmmm… not so exciting an offer after all… I guess that means he’ll go somewhere else! :(

@SnowCoveredSled Are you saying your son received the Chancellor’s scholarship then another letter station that he had to take our a $5500 loan? That doesn’t make sense because Chancellor’s has always been a full ride. Could the OAFA office not gotten the message regarding Chancellors? I will say that only paying $5500 a year to go to Pitt is an incredible deal.

I know some Chancellor’s scholars and they’ve never had their award decreased by having to take out a loan so that’s probably a mistake in the financial aid office. You should call the Honors College and tell them about this so they can fix it for you. The Chancellor’s scholarship is a great award. Congratulations.

It must be a mistake. It’s a shame though because it’s coming at such a critical time when he is making decisions on where to go! I’ll check with the Honors College tomorrow…

OP, what did you find out? This is important to many of us.

@SnowCoveredSled the financial aid letter was just including need-based aid. Since the Chancellor’s Scholarship awardees are currently being announced, it’s unlikely that award would be included. Please call 412-624-7488 and talk to an aid counselor!

Crisis averted! The letter was just stating the need-based aid alone. Not the scholarship! Phew! The timing was just the unfortunate thing. It came out after we had heard about the scholarship offer so it seemed like it was offering us a scholarship less a loan. Very confusing but I’m glad that it is cleared up!

thanks for clearing that up, SCS.

I interviewed at the Honors College yesterday (4/14) and was notified this morning (less than 24 hours after my interview) that I have been selected as a Chancellor’s Scholar! The interview was tougher than most and finding out I was chosen was a very shocking and pleasant surprise Congrats to all those others who are Chancellor’s Scholars and best luck and wishes to those who will move on various other incredible paths!

Congratulations @samelsawaf!!
