do we have to list all ten of our things out on our list? i thought we only had to tell them what our list is about, and then expand on number 4

Ay, so many unanswered questions -.-

Not for sure about the 500 word limit. I am going to call on Monday and see if it includes listing or if it is just the essay. I will let you guys know! :)

I would not create a vertical list since it would take up the entire space but your top 10 must still be mentioned in an essay form.

OMG… I just recieved a letter in the mail saying i have been selected as a semifinalist when i had recieved an email a while back saying tht i didn’t make it. I just checked again and found out that i DID in fact make semifinalist but the rejection email was because i made more than one account… now I need to find a way to get everything done by december 27th!!

@matrixsurgeon CONGRATS! I got two emails saying that I did and didn’t make it, haha. But I made it.

Where are you from? I’ve been waiting on the mail notification.

sorry for being late to this post for this: but CONGRATS to all you fellow semifinalists!!

@detpeace congrats man! I’m from NC. You haven’t recieved the mail yet? It’s not really much but it will probs come from you (im assuming ur in Mich?) like tommorow or the day after cause ur farther from atlanta than me?

The mail itself doesn’t say much excpet the usual congrats you made semis, and it tells you exaclty what is due on dec 27th pretty much same stuff as that email they sent out with the links for all the info concerning semis… but yea the mail is the only thing that saved me from never knowing…the second i recieved word, i got on my email and sent out quick emails to my two recommendors so they have max time…

Wow! I received the email a while back saying I’m a semifinalist, but I thought it was the type of thing where everyone becomes a semi-finalist like in QB… but then I saw on here that it’s only 2,000 people? Cool! Congrats guys, looking forward to this :)

matrixsurgeon: You said that you checked again after receiving the letter. What did you mean by that? Is there a place online where you can look up who made it to semifinalist?

jrmama496, sorry if i wasn’t clear on what i meant. Originally i had made 2 accounts with 2 different email addresses but the same info and same entries… So because of that, in order for them to “accept” me they have to send a rejection letter to ONE of teh two accounts and send acceptance to the OTHER of the two accounts (I mean through email). because I recieved the rejection email first, I was discouraged and forgot about it and didn’t bother to check the second email. I recieved my letter of acceptance and I was suprised so I went back to the SECOND email address and I found email from Coca Cola about my semifinalist status and it also had exactly what i need to fill out and have in order to be considered for finalist (all the files and recs and stuff). So no there is no online “account” or portal to check through, but if i were you, i would check ALL emails you THINK you might have used for 1 or more accounts u made and check the junk/spam as well… if you recieved the letter and can’t find the email, call them (the phone number is on the letter or website i think) and they will send you the files and stuff.

remember to do it fast tho!! Everything is due by December 27th and i think that every year there are always some people who don’t get in at all or within significant time so they weren’t considered…

So I never was able to find out about the whole word count thing on the Top Ten ( coca cola offices are only recordings!), but I am going to email them to make for sure that we are supposed to include the Top Ten in our essay.

I do have a few more questions, though and hope you fellow semi finalists can answer!

I have classes listed on my transcript that are dual credit, but it doesn’t show that it IS dual credit on the transcript. It just states it as a high school course. Should I list it in the section in Qualifications wher it tells us to mention any dual credits NOT on transcript? Confused :/

There is not enough room to fit the whole title of some of my Clubs and Honors. No acronyms allowed, either. Would it be terrible if I just took out spaces? Ex: WorldwideYouth instead of Worldwide Youth … ?

I har community service at a local homeless shelter since I was a freshman. Do I state that in both of the community service sections? Just use one as 2013 and the other as 2010-2012?

Thanks!

For the dual credits question, I would say that if it already shows on your high school transcript, then don’t put it on the application. Are there any classes you toke that aren’t on your transcript? I would put those down.

For some of my clubs, I can’t even fit them even without the spaces. So, I could only resort to the acronyms. I’m going to email them about that too.

For the community service, put your service under both service sections. They like to see continuity in your community service. :)

Thank you very much yiyi1064!

And do you think they want us to email them? I doesn’t say ‘Contact us at…’ or anything like previous applications I have filled out.

i emailed them once at coca-colascholars@coca-cola.com. they replied within a couple days, so i think we should email them at that email address with any questions

I emailed coca cola about Top Ten

“In the “Top Ten”, do I list my top ten or include it in my essay? And is the word limit just for the elaboration on #4? Or does that include the priorities in the word count?”

They replied: Please include the list and the word limit applies only to the elaboration of #4.

So there’s our answer:)

What is the top ten list? like top 10 of what? im confused…

is it the volunteer information?

This is the most official notification i have recieved from coca cola about this year’s process: "Notification informing you of the reading committee’s decision will be mailed in mid-January. Those selected as Coca-Cola Finalists must participate in a regional interview. Dates, times, and locations, will be made available at the time of notification of advancement to the next phase of the application process.

All Finalists selected as Coca-Cola Scholars must attend the Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend (April 3-6, 2014) at the Scholars Foundation’s expense to receive a Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship valued at $20,000. During the Scholars Weekend, Scholars will interview with our National Selection Committee, which will then designate ten (10) Legacy recipients who will receive an additional $10,000 award."

everything seems to be different than last year scarily… so they still pick the same numer of semis (2000 in our case) so that is where we are all at. But what im wondering is why they added a stage in the process. last year, it was semis then finalists and if u made finalist u AUTOMATICALLY got 10grand and called a coke scholar and invited to compete fro 50 additional 10k scholarships so a total of 200 scholars with 10k and 50 scholars with 20k.

This year THOUGH, if you make finalist, u have to participate in REGIONAL interviews and then u find out if you make SCHOLAR or not so finalist is NOT equal to scholar this year? why? why are they adding a stage? are they reducing number of scholars? This year it says that all scholars automatically get 20k… instead of the 10k in years past and then only 10 get an additional 10k to make it 30k…

so either they have more money this year and they want to add a stage to really have an interview part for the finalists but still same number of total winners at 250 OR they have same/less money this year and are REDUCING total number of winners and because of that, they are adding a stage? im so confused… sorry if i sound paranoid, i just like being organized haha. anybody got inputs, guesses, predictions, more info?

MY GUESS is that the first option above, that they have more money this year and just wanna have a “make sure” interview stage for the finalists cause all of them get more money. so somehting like 2000 semis to 500 finalists and 500 finalists to 250 scholars?

Top ten of anything! Be creative. Books, goals, food, etc. whatever you want!

Or at least this is what other bloggers have been posting. I will email and make for sure.

in my opinion, i believe that the coca-cola scholars foundation has more money this year. Last year, they gave out $1,200,000 in scholarship money to the 250 finalists. But, this year, they are giving out $3,100,000 in scholarship money to the 150 scholars. (i did the math, you can double check if you want). So, that’s probably why there’s an extra stage in the scholarship process. They want to be extra sure that you have what it takes to be a coca cola scholar by adding in a personal interview for the finalists.
