2014 Decisions

Congratulations collegemom2018.

The ED1 notification date is 12/15 so it is helpful to know that students were called on 12/13 and 12/14.

If anyone is called today (which is a Sunday) please post for future reference.

D accepted also supposedly formal details early this week

I am starting a new thread for accepted students for class of 2018. It would be a good place to get to know each other, discuss possible housing and share what we know about the school!

My son accepted! Received email from coach past 8 pm.

I have not received a decision yet, I am getting worried.

Hi everyone! I was just accepted around 4 PM today by one of the admissions counselors, so don’t worry, they’re still calling!

Woohoo more Ducks :D

You can call your admissions counselor if you haven;t heard anything, (800)-STEVENS. They are mailing all the stuff today and tomorrow I was told.

Have any of those students who got a good news call get anything in the mail yet?

Son got mail today confirming acceptance by coach on Sunday. He got $20,100 schloarship, $1000 work study, $5000 loan (not sure if we will take the loan).

He is a good student but not particularly excellent. SAT close to 2000, GPA 3.8, weighed 3.6 with APs in Calculus, Ecomonics, History, Computer, Physics. etc.

Letter of admission came in for me just to let anyone know who is curious.

Hi iLarryy-did you get a phone call prior to your letter? Was your financial package in your letter?

Congratulations on your acceptance!

ps no mail for us today

My son also got his package today. Yipee!

ACFan 1: I saw in a different thread your son will be fencing at SIT. My DD is a junior in high school and has been contacted by one of the coaches already. What weapon and rating does your son have?

milwaukeegirl - Your DD must be a good fencer to get the call.

My son is an E2012. But I think he fences more like a D-rated because he beat an A-rated and a C-rated fencers yesterday in high school meet. He did not go to many tournaments to upgrade his rating due to busy schedule with other activities.

In the Quad meet yesterday, I talked to a couple of parents with daughters in the Stevens fencing team. They said that Men and Women teams have different coaches and have different schedule most of the time. I was told that the coach of the women’s team has been coaching there for many years while the coach of the men’s team is new. The coaches encourage students to do other activities, not just fencing. The Stevens parents said that the school encourages students to join 3 activities (clubs for example). My son knows 2 former teammates fencing in the women’s team and one with the men’s team. But he knows a few more fencers graduated from Stevens. His former HS coach’s son graduated there. I would imagine Stevens need women fencers because of small female population.

It would be good to start a new thread for athletic related questions.

Are you actually committing to a major when you send in your deposit?

You are committing to attend. Not sure about the major.

On the letter that my son had to send back with the deposit, it clearly stated that he would be majoring in Biomedical Engineering.

Well I suppose they are confirming his choice of major. Some people enter as undecided. Some people change their major after they have taken some classes.

If you accept as Biomedical they will not kick you out if you change your mind later. Why not call your counselor and talk to him/her if you have any reservations?
