2014 Elks Mvs Scholarship

Tenischicaxo, what’s your ACT score?

Everyone that applied, check out this scoring guide that I found. I think it’s from a few years ago but I’m sure the scoring this year will be similar

@jjonesjohnny… what do you think is a qualifying score for finalists? I took a guess on what my scores for each section would be. .

I’m hoping my test scores help me get some money out of this.

I’d like to know what a qualifying score for a finalist would be, as well.

Thank you for the informative post. I hope our income, although middle class won’t hurt my daughter’s chances. Isn’t there a local component to this scholarship? Do you know how much those awards are? By the way, my daughter has a 29 ACT and great sports and leadership EC.

I believe they vary by the lodge^^

Thanks for posting the link jjonesjonny65. That is very interesting and informative. I’d love to know the number of applicants per lodge, district, and state.

For all of you who would like to know what a finalist score would be…I have no clue. I judged my self off of that criteria harshly and I scored around a 750. If I had to guess what a nationalist finalist score would be I would say around a 900. My local lodge awards 20 scholarships so I think I have a good chance for those. If y’all judged yourselves, what did y’all score? I judged myself harshly and got around a 750.

My need for financial aid will probably prevent me from getting over a 900. I’m just not sure about some stuff - I have some prestigious and interesting extracurriculars and sports and community service (sorry for the run-on, kind of), but it probably won’t impress them enough.

Jibler, well if you have great extracurricular activities and community service then that should make up for the financial part. What’s score range were you under for the financial part. I was between 71 and 75. Also what’s your act score? Mine is a 27 so my score on that section was a 218

Lol, 46-50 or 41-45

I did get a 32 on the ACT though

Jibler, holy crap that’s good lol. You can get a full ride anywhere. You don’t even need this scholarship forreal

No reply here, yet.

Lol, well thanks jjones! The schools I’m targeting are pretty expensive, though; they wouldn’t offer me a free ride either so I’d love any kind of help to pay tuition and whatnot.

I do hope everyone here gets something

I do so hate the waiting game that occurs after you turn in an application.

Don’t we all! Lol.

Umm local lodge…plz hurry and judge the applications and notify everyone. That would be great. Thanks!

Lol too bored right now

Just applied the last day. It would be a miracle to receive something! When I gave my application to the lodge, they seriously did not have a clue what to do. So worried right now… & I don’t have many “leadership roles” either. Btw, I’m from Alabama! :)

Hey jjones, do you know how long they usually take with this?
