2014 Transfer Denied admission UCSC but appealing

Hey I was Denied admission from UCSC but would still like to try to appeal. I was wondering if anyone else was planning on doing this as well. I'm not sure what to write about because nothing much new has happened in my life to possible affect the decision since I applied. I did not have a strong GPA ( 2.8) but I had all my pre-reqs done for my Sociology Major. I was also rejected from UCSB and am beginning to get the feeling I won't get into any UCs.

If you don’t have any compelling reasons for an appeal, don’t bother and don’t try stretching the truth. But if you have a legitimate reason why your GPA is low, you can possibly use that to reverse their decision. It probably won’t work but if you really want to get in, might as well try.

Well one thing I did not write about in my application was the death of my uncle who has lived with me my whole life. My first semester at community college he was diagnosed with a mental illness and died of a brain hemorrhage beginning of last year. I am thinking about using this to explain my grades because it truly did have an affect on me and having to balance that with my job and school with also an internship was difficult. so maybe that is where I would head with an appeal

maybe the the competition was tough this year for sociology… i didnt get in either and i am a socio major with a gpa similar to yours 2.975…

Do you plan to appeal? I honestly though as being a sociology major it would have been smoother for me…

You should appeal. It doesn’t hurt to try?
Also good luck if you are planning to appeal. :]

So I Appealed! fingers crossed. How long does it take to find out? And how do I find out
