Semifinalist! Does anybody know if this is a big deal for college admissions?
Semifinalist from Texas!
Can a semifinalist post their stats? I was surprised I wasn’t semifinalist since the first round was completely objective with no essays. I have a perfect gpa, rank 1, president and vp of numerous clubs, 2 sports for 4 years each, 400 hrs community service, etc What else is coca cola looking for? O.o
How do you know if you’re not a semifinalist?
I assume no email means that they just not have had the chance to send it out yet. I have not received an email either, however if others are being notified even if they did not receive semifinalist, I would guess that is the case.
I still have my fingers crossed then!
@archlion They say they received more than 87,000 applications. 2500 semifinalists. If we can safely assume even only half of the applicants had perfect grades, scores and ECs like you, 95% of THOSE did not make semifinalist!
yes! would one you lovely semifinalists be willing to post stats?
So basically it’s easier to get into an IVY, MIT, Stanford, Cal Tech etc. than to advance to simifinalist for Coca Cola
no email yet does everyone get email either way
im thinking its alphabetical order but idk
@txmom16 If you are looking at strictly numbers and not holistic content, then yes that is absolutely true. None of those schools receive anything close to the number of applications, for about the same number of acceptances or more. But college admissions is vetted by humans… the semifinalist round of coca cola is by computer. Stats are not meaningful here. It’s not personal. Yet.
Semifinalist from NY! Are you guys notifying EA/ED colleges? Applying SCEA to Yale but not sure if it’s worth it.
I really think it would be beneficial to students for these national scholarships to post their minimum requirements. For Coke, for example there must have been a minimum GPA, Extra curricular activities or volunteering hours to be selected. I was told they are selected by computer so the computer is obviously searching these numbers out. If only 3% get selected it’s obviously most did not even come close to being selected. That info should be made more public so these students aren’t wasting their time. Colleges provide admitted student data so students can decide if they want to apply and they are fully aware of their chances. This should be a requirement of some of these national scholarships.
Have any of you received an email?? I’m still waiting
@PancakeGirl100 check your spam mail, some people get it there
Semifinalist from CT! Same question as @trfox7 - is this worth mentioning to EA/ED colleges? I’m applying SCEA to Harvard.
@PancakeGirl100 same!! I wasnt nervous until everyone else was getting emails and I wasnt. The anxiety of not knowing is killing me, despite the fact im fairly certain I got rejected because Coke is a crapshoot lol. This is looking like the nail in the coffin
@giraffeinatree I know! I keep refreshing my email! And can a semifinalist please post your stats
And yes I checked my spam
