…deciding based on the update, not deciding based on the application then changing their minds at the update. This particular class I have not been able to get into for the last 3 semesters. My counselor even advised me against taking it because only 2 of the UC’s I’m applying to want it.

@bear87 what do you mean you have not been able to get into it for three terms? Because it is full? As you move through the system it should be easier and easier to get into classes because of priority. If you belong to an honors club you also have greater priority. If the reason is it fills up and you still cannot get in, talk to the prof last semester and explain how it’s on your planned course list for UC (emphasize your desire for the two UCs that want it), and it now will be 5 terms you cannot get in. If he has a conscience, he’ll let you in.

Yes. It fills up and they only offer 2 sections per semester. I have wait listed each semester, but have never made it into the class. I was told I have lower priority registration because I’m part time. Also my school had priority registration for military, and living in THE navy town, a very large portion if students are military. Even at 80+credits, my registration dates are usually well into the second week of registration.

Is anyone putting AP awards on their app? I feel really awkward just putting

“Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams”

in the box .

Also, besides UCB and UCLA, which other UCs are really strict about completing ALL Assist prereqs prior to transfer? For UCSD, I am thinking about Psych or CogSci, but I won’t have ALL prereqs competed for either by the end of Spring 2015. I’ll be 1/3 done with CogSci and 1/4 done with Psych.

If it says required and they’re offered you need to get them done. If it says recommended you should still try and do as many as possible if they are offered at your CC or in the district. Not having them makes you less competitive, esp with psych - although cog sci is not so popular so there may be a bit more leeway. But you’re taking a risk. High GPA and completing major pre-reqs are the most important things across the board, not just UCLA and UCB.

UCB and UCLA I’m not worried about since I will have all the prereqs done, its just SD that I am missing a few. Should I even spend the $70 if I can’t complete all of them?

Do they say required and are they offered at your CC? If so, you might want to consider applying there as undeclared, as UCSD is the only UC that allows that.

UCSD offers a psychology BA ans BS. Which one are you more interested in? I applied to UCSD with tag and was missing 1 prereq for the BA and 2 for the BS. I got accepted, but that may be due to tag.

The BA.

Both Psych and CogSci say this:

"Transfer students are strongly advised to complete as many preparatory courses as soon as possible for their major before enrolling at UC San Diego. Preparing well for the major helps students move efficiently toward graduation. "

So I’m okay applying w/o them completed?

@luckie1367 how many pre-requisites are listed and how many will you have completed? I think that is probably the determining factor.

I just looked. You said 1/4 completed for psych, if I am not mistaken. That sounds kind of low.

Cog Sci, you said 1/3 completed, and as I recall there are usually pre-req in that major that are not offered at a CC. It might be better to go for that one, as it will also be easier to get in.

By the end of this fall semester I will have 4/8 done for the Psych BA and 1/3 done for CogSci. By the end of Spring 2015 I will be at 5/8 and 2/3.

well the 2/3 is still higher and its an easier major to get into. I guess the 5/8 would depend on course load. If it’s 5 classes out of 8, maybe. I just think, for my money, psych is generally harder to get into, and the more you’re missing, the less competitive you are.

Thanks lindy, I think you’re right.

Hey guys. Couple of questions.

For the UC apps do we use the same account we used to apply from high school?

Also, is applying to TAG easy?

one more question. For uc davis psychology transfer, it mentions some courses have to be completed before fall you apply. How strict are they on that? (Im missing one class :(…)

You can use the same account if you want to, just remember the username and password!

TAG is easy and starts today, <a href=“UC Transfer Admission Planner - UC TAP | UC Admissions”>https://uctap.universityofcalifornia.edu/students/ . Make sure to review the TAG rules at the school where you will submit a TAG. You can only TAG one school so you don’t want to waste it!

This is what my ASSIST said, but yours could be different depending on the CC, I guess:

“Any required courses that are offered at your current campus must be completed by the close of spring term prior to fall enrollment at UC Davis.”

That means for enrollment at Davis in Fall 2015, all prereqs at your CC must be competed by Spring 2015.

Re posting from earlier in the thread, since today is the first day!

Good idea putting all the TAG requirement links up @luckie1367 .

Also, if TAGing to UCSB remember math req must be completed by fall or they’ll kick you out of TAG!

Also - same major on TAG/TAP form and regular app!

Thanks luckie

So, for our TAG application, we estimate parent income for 2014 right? That can be changed later?
