2015 Elks MVS Scholarship

@jdondeca‌ What is the difference between letter and email? Letter just saying you made nationals and then email giving the finalists detailed information? Or will everyone (even those who didn’t advance from state ) get letter and email?

any other state get a letter notifying them yet or has it just been ca so far?

We got an email in Michigan today.

@Georgiamama “Letter just saying you made nationals and then email giving the finalists detailed information?” Yes.

Got an email yesterday saying I didn’t make it to nationals (from WA), but got a $2,000 state-level scholarship, so that’s a bonus

No word yet in Tennessee. Hope that is still a good thing.

We’re in Tn too, no news. Please let us know when you hear back and we’ll do the same

National Finalist from Pennsylvania! My state chairperson just told me – don’t panic though, official notifications from the National foundation have not gone out yet

Still crossing my fingers in FL! Good luck to everyone else waiting.

I am also from FL @shanethesemi‌ Let me know if you hear back!

Tennesseean here, also!

@CourtneyThurston - did the PA state chair say when those in PA would find out about advancing to Nationals?

Can anyone clarify how this scholarship works - if a student has been selected for judging at the National level do they win a minimum scholarship? I can’t tell how many students actually get advanced for judging at the National level. Is it only 500 or is it more than 500 and they cut it down to 500?

@davenmame‌ every national finalist gets a $1000 scholarship minimum. And I’m also confused as to how they come up with 500 between all the states…maybe 10 per state?

There is a link for last year’s winners listed by state. It appears that the number of winners vary in number by state. Some states had 16-17 and others had 5 or so. I think some of the smaller states might get grouped together according to various maps on their web site - again though, I’m not certain.

Anyone from PA formally hear anything yet?

The PA state chair didn’t say when everyone will be notified, just that I advanced. He said the National Foundation would be sending the notifications “soon”.

@davenmame Only 500 make it to the National Finalist level, then that gets cut down to 20 for the Finalist Weekend.

So, if you made nationals when do you know what the next steps are? Will they email you with more details later?

Has anyone from NY received any information?
