2015 SDSU Transfer Decisions

History major/ Mira costa
3.5 gpa when first applied
3.3 gpa after fall semester
I have a couple questions if any of you can answer them that would be really helpful. Do you think age place a factor in admission and your major gpa. My major gpa is a 3.8 do you think I have a better chance because of it.
Other history majors please put up grades to compare

Hey idk what u did but I had 24 AP credits and all I had to do was fill out the AP test/ other test section on the original application in the fall. Hopefully you sent ur ap scores to your community college when u started CC so they could verify them. It seems like you messed up ur ap

@kaz1995 Im not sure if you are talking to me but I did transfer my AP units to CC. However, Grossmont gave me 9 credits for my 2 AP classes (6 for U.S. History and 3 for Gov’t) & SDSU only counts the classes as 3 units a piece. Hope this clears things up.

Age? What do you mean? make sure your GPA doesn’t drop below what you had put on your sup app

I wasn’t talking to you Econ but the credits you used to complete your GE and major should transfer over regardless. I’m applying to ucla and got a 3 on the ap Spanish literature test. If I were to have applied as a high schooler I wouldn’t have received the credit for that test. But since I’m applying now those AP units are transferable regardless of the score since I went through a CC. But US history should be 6 units at sdsu and 3 units for gov.

Like am I more likely to get accepted because I completed my 60 units in 2 years and at an age very close to the rest of the incoming freshman class as opposed to finally applying for transfer after 5 or so years at a community college and as an older person.

Age has nothing to do with the decision the school makes on admissions. With CSUs it really just depends on your grades and the circumstances the school is facing. On top of that it is illegal to discriminate someone because of their age in the State of California. I think it’s great that you are transferring within the two years of starting community college, but not everyone has the advantage that you have. Good luck!

That would be age discrimination. I seriously think that is against the law. I graduated high school last year and am transferring with 70 credits including AP. I don’t expected to get special treatment.
Older students may have work and family demands which prevent them from completing CC in 2 years.

Who heard that admission decisions would be tomorrow or in the next week?

Where all your classes online??

Yes all of them. I started taking online classes in summer 2013 at Mendocino college, took Astronomy plus lab for physical science and all the cc for free until high school graduation. Then I had Spanish AP Lit and Lang, English AP and Studio Art AP. I was rejected from all the UCs and CSUs I applied to as a freshman due to mediocre SAT score and 3.6 high school GPA. So I decided to transfer as a junior after a year and it’s working. I got into Cal Poly SLO last week, very exciting!
Also, regarding AP credit, it doesn’t matter whether you attended community college or not, you still get the same number of units per the chart.

Yeah I received credit in cc for my AP scores. I currently have a big problem. My CC somehow forgot to verify my
AA-T degree for transfer electronically and they told me to send the transcript instead since it has the verification on it I emailed SDSU about this hopefully everything goes ok.

AA-T e-verifications are not due till March 15th. Why is your CC leaving it up to you? They should be the ones to send it, especially since there is still time. @aztec94 It also says on SDSU’s site not to send transcripts until you have been admitted. I am not sure why your college recommended you to do that. I hope they are able to resolve this for you. I’m just kind of flabbergasted as to why your school is saying they forgot to e-verify your AA-T when there is still time for them to do so.

I am really glad to see activity on here. Coming back to so many notifications about people in the same position as me is very reassuring. Thank you guys.

I fear that it will be like last year, where they waited till the ADT verification date was over and kept everyone waiting till April. Please let it not be so :((

Last year there was something about “good” versus “bad” housing messages. Has anyone noticed that this year? My portal says click here to apply for housing and has a link but then it can’t recognize my e-mail…

.

@Nicole182‌ I noticed that housing link today too, however, somewhere there it was also stated that yon can’t apply until you were accepted. That’s why the system didn’t recognize your email.

@qaz1995 Hey, good to see another history major here!
I am also a history major. In-state (but not in San Diego), 4.0 with AA-T.
@raychill89 Edit: was asking about the e-verification but I found the information I was looking for

Most ucs don’t take 3’s some don’t even take 4 or 5s depending on the test and the category it falls under for your general ed
