I am in theatre whiz is part of the theatre film and television program. I had to audition but did you do a portfolio?
@EconomicsSDSU 3.5 gpa but missing 2 prereqs.
Anybody attending a quarter based CC system?
On my SDSU webportal checklist, the final date to submit a transcript report for Spring is the 31st of June.
My school’s spring quarter does not end until the 26th of June and it takes about a week to have the transcript ready which would past SDSU’s deadline. Do you guys think SDSU could extend the due date or is it something that I have to work with at my current CC?
Does anyone know if SDSU (or any other colleges) has any sort of admittance priority for foster youth?
Well, @EconomicsSDSU looks like local Econ Majors that hope to transfer to SDSU are at the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to being considered for admission, considering no local area community college offers an AD-T in Econ. Do you, or anyone else, know where numbers can be found, in terms of number of applicants and the number that were actually admitted last year? Specifically for Econ majors.
I believe UCSD has a program for foster youth, @kippycap
@Benzina Here’s the link that will show you all the numbers/stats for last year’s students:

@Ellie64 To be honest, where I think I went wrong last year was that I applied as Bus. Admin (General) as opposed to Bus. Admin (Finance, Marketing, etc.).
In my opinion and experience, relying on your AS-T isn’t the best idea. Theoretically you get the AS-T in order to be given “priority” consideration. The only problem is that there are likely more people “playing it safe” by choosing the option that gives them “priority,” as opposed to those who try and get in without any special consideration. So you may be given priority consideration, but so are ALL the people who applied to the AS-T major. I think that ultimately weakens your chances of getting in. But then again, I’m only one person, I’m sure there are exceptions.
One thing to consider is how strongly SDSU favors local cc students. If any given SD cc student applies and has the same qualifications as you, in all likelihood, the local student will get in. If I remember correctly, someone posted last year that SDSU gives first priority consideration to all local cc kids with an AS-T, and then all nonlocals with an AS-T. Now mind you this is only for the majors that directly articulate with the AS-T, like say Bus. Admin (General) or Bus. Admin (Financial Studies)
It’s a double-edged sword. Sure you have “priority,” but so do a lot of other people. Hope this wasn’t too much of a downer. Best of luck.
@wavechaser99 Best of luck in your decisions. Both are wonderful schools that I’m sure you’ll enjoy thoroughly.
@TruffleButter Thanks for that. Those stats are scary! Out of the 653 business transfers, only 77 were accepted?!?! It looks like @CodyNigh71 is right, I might have had a better chance if I added a concentration but, I was advised not to by the counselors.
My D applied with the AS-T Bus General. She is at Mesa with a 3.97 GPA. The advice that she received was to apply this way and not as a Business Marketing major with no AS-T. We will see if this works out for her or not. Good luck to everyone waiting.
@CodyNigh Yeah this actually makes a lot of sense- it seems the AD-T doesn’t really do what it’s supposed to aside from maybe get me admitted to some other school down the food chain if none of my schools I applied to work out. It just seems like it lumps people into one more category of applicants to be sorted out, and were really at the back of the queue, after the locals with AD-T’s, locals without AD-T’s, non-locals without AD-T’s who may have great GPA’s/major pre-reqs/GE’s done. Maybe I have the order wrong, but looking at the timing I may not even hear back for another two or three weeks and I’m a non-local with an AD-T. Somebody correct me if I’m completely off, but this is just how it looks.
@TruffleButter Thanks for these stats, they help to gauge where I stand- almost 900 undergrad transfers for Kinesiology (inclusive of Exercise Science Generalist, Fitness Specialist, Pre-Physical Therapy) and only 139 admitted. Hot damn!
Best of luck to you all, cheers!
Has anyone been rejected yet?? I applied for Business with an Emphasis on Accounting and I am from a non-local CC. My status is still pending.
I just checked my app and the date on the bottom changed to the 11th… But it still says pending? It used to say October 18th… Idk What is going on
Have any electrical engineers been denied yet? I’m still pending and starting to get worried cause I’ve seen a couple acceptances
Still pending as well for Nutrition. I saw another Nutrition major get accepted so I am getting worried.
I got denied Good luck guys.
@kboss1991 I’m so sorry to hear that… If you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats? Were you local?
Denied for public health.
3.6 all major prep done
Nor cal.
I’m going to appeal cuz who knows what could happen. It really sucks though. Good luck to everyone though
No not local. I didn’t have an associates but I had most of my pre reqs done. My GPA is 3.79, I really thought I would get in so I’m pretty sad about this.
Just got denied!!
My counselor told me from the beginning my chances were slim due to the fact that I only had one major prep class done. But they insisted since I qualified for the free applications I should take a shot at it anyways. My hopes weren’t to high which is the good news.
Engineering major with 3.3 and no major prep but one. And I’m a veteran so I’m guessing while being a veteran gets you priority it sure doesn’t make up for lack of major prep courses. Well i can try again next year
