@ieatsushi Ok so I just called and I was told that as long as they have your official certificate of eligibility for the GI Bill benefits by May 2nd, the internet to enroll fee will be covered. If not, then you’d have to pay out of pocket and you will be reimbursed at the end of the fall 2015 semester!
Oh cool! I sent that in January.
So then you’re all good to go. I am still working on mine. My husband just transferred some benefits to me a month ago and I’ve already applied, but I am still waiting on receiving my certification in the mail. I hope it will be good to go by May 2nd. Paying out of pocket then being reimbursed wouldn’t be the end of the world though, I suppose. How long did it take for the VA to process your application and to receive your certification? @ieatsushi
@raychill89, honestly, I don’t remember. I’ve been going to school off and on, I really dedicated myself last year but when he transferred over the benefits to me, it was in 2010. I only used the GI Bill for one semester because I realized that I was wasting the benefits when I could pay for CC out of pocket and use it later for a university—later on someone told me about the BOG waiver and I qualified. I didn’t realize that I could get a Pell grant for good grades either until last semester when I applied for financial aid because I couldn’t afford books. So save of a few semesters, I’ve been able to go to school for free without the GI Bill.
Anyway, I did have to get a new certificate of eligibility because SDSU asked for one, I called the VA and they were really helpful telling me step by step how to get a new one and it took about a little less than two weeks to get to me. I think the GI Bill works different for spouses as opposed to one who was/is active duty. I think we initially have to pay the cost of tuition up front and then get reimbursed. I’m not too sure, it’s been a while. We don’t get a stipend for books either.
Anyone who’s emailed SDSU get a response? I have a question, but no phone to call them from.
@leoda73 I emailed them last week and still have received no response from them yet. I think they’re just busy.
@peter0001 Still no response from state, I’ve been checking my web portal religiously. They should come out early April. We probably won’t hear anything until then.
Guys I’m so nervous! Just called my community college (OCC) and they said they sent the chancellors e-verify for ADT on 2/26. Just called SDSU and they said they don’t have the verification on file!! Everyone please call sdsu to verify if they have or have not received it!! My community college is amazing and they printed out the form verification for me to fax in today before the deadline so I can show proof and not have to appeal later on just in case. Please all us ADTs I’m rooting for us!! and everyone else too!!! SDSU closes at 4pm today!
@ieatsushi Oddly enough, my certificate was in the mail today! When I called the Veteran’s Center again just now, the guy told me “there is nothing we can do with your certificate until you get accepted.” You had mentioned you already gave SDSU yours, and I remember getting an email telling me to send that in. Lol. Wonder why that person told me not to send it.
@Ellie64 What department would I call, I pretty much got the same news from SDCCD, that they are having trouble sending the verifications to SDSU.
@ellie64 I am on the phone with transfer center at Mesa college. She is calling the evaluator of the district for SDCCD with me on hold to give word as to if e-verifictions have been sent. I am freaking out right now. I guess the evaluators of the districts are who send the e-verifications… new news to me.
I spoke to someone directly at the district @raychill89 Evaluations at City told me that is who I have to speak with since they handle all the evals.
I was on hold at State, then it kept ringing and ringing. Ahhhh!
@ieatsushi I called (619) 594-6336. And the nice lady said they don’t have my verification on file. They said they are still processing a ton also, but it makes me worried that this is why so many ADT applicants get denied. I recommend faxing in proof today that you are on your way to completing the ADT degree, and I think this can be done by contacting your cc and them printing it out for your if they’re still open today. Or if you live local you can walk in and maybe show them your unofficial transcript that should show you have it in progress. Or fax in your unofficial with the proof. I’m not sure but just show them some sort of proof!! Eeeeeek
@ Yes, that was the number I am calling, but the phone just keeps ringing. I was told by our district that the problem lies on SDSU’s end.
Yeah…I keep getting reassured that my “name is on the list and everything is good to go by today” but no one can seem to confirm if the ADT verification has been sent or not. I can’t understand why no one knows what’s going on. Their lack of information has me concerned.
On hold with SDSU listening to nonstop ringing.
Okay, just got off with State. She said that on their end there is no way that they can verify if they’ve received them until the after the deadline that the only people who can give us a solid answer is the school. She said because the deadline has been extended to the 16th, call the school again and ask. She also said, that SDSU was not aware they were having any troubles with receiving verifications. I gave them the district’s number so they can find out exactly what was going on. Hopefully, they will call them.
Everyone is giving people different answers, this is so frustrating lol…I thought this year would be stress-free, nope!
I’m considering just going to SDSU and give them my transcript or something. This ADT process is so complicated lol
I’m going call my school first thing Monday morning and if nothing has been done, I’m going straight to SDSU and finding out what the hell is going on.
@ieatsushi Good plan lol
I was just told the same thing about SDSU not being able to verify if they’ve received the e-verifications until after the deadline. Our fate is in our CC’s hands. Hopefully the schools have everything together and all goes well…for all our sakes.
On a side note: I think the CC’s wait until the very last minute to send e-verifications most likely to give as many students as possible a chance to petition for graduation and to make it on the list on time which is fair…but I just wish SDSU made the deadline for ADT e-verifications earlier so that us ADT students can find out our fate earlier, around the same time as general applicants. I (along with many of you guys here) can’t wrap my head around why they make priority students wait longer than everyone else. Ugh. I am done whining now. Keeping my fingers crossed for us all and trying to remain as positive as humanly possible.
