@areeedub Have you talked with a counselor? Did you have just one bad semester? You should look into “Academic Renewal” at your school so that you can redo those classes again. The only caveat is that you have a class that you did well for the semester that you did poorly in, you’ll have to retake it because they will give the renewal by semester, not by class. Also, there has to be a one-year time span before you can apply for academic renewal.
But, if you got a C- or below in some classes, you should be able to retake them for a better grade to boost your GPA.
@trufflebutter They should make the deadline for ADT e-verification earlier, huh?! That seems kind of silly to make the priority students wait longer than general applicants. I was told by someone in the transfer department at Mesa that they were going to be sending in ADT e-verifications this month (February). I wonder if those whose verifications are sent in early will hear back earlier? A girl can only hope, right? It would be nice!
@brett8 I just called SDSU admissions earlier today and specifically asked when ADT transfer students should be getting their admission decisions. I was told either the first or second week of March. Wish we had some definitive answers. I guess only time will tell. I am sure it varies year to year too, so nothing is ever really set in stone.
I think @ieatsushi was talking about the people with ADTs last year that got notified of their decisions in early March. I think I remember reading that as well. I am wondering if some schools sent in the e-verification earlier and those students who attended those schools were notified earlier because of that…while the students who waited until late April may have had to wait because their schools sent in the verification so close to the deadline. Who knows…haha. I’m just guessing at this point. Let’s just hope for the best, but worst case, we have to wait till April (which will royally suck).
So, I just received my Graduation Evaluation in the mail today, and looks like SDCCD might have screwed me. I went off my original Education Plan that I received from a counselor to make sure I have “all my ducks in a row”, as she put it when it came to my supplemental but, lo and behold my Graduation Evaluation differs from my Educational Plan—of course, all being related to the headache that is University of Phoenix credits. They moved around a couple of classes for my A2/Written Communication requirement, which means that the class I listed on my application won’t match what the SDSU is going to verify. Under “Transferable Electives” they added another course, which would raise my transferable GPA and be different from what I reported (I did some research, and yes, they will reject an application if the reported GPA is lower than the actual GPA).
I wrote to the evaluator but, I doubt there is much that can be done at this point. I guess I’ll be expecting to file an appeal.
@raychill89 I also called the admissions department and asked when transfer students with ADT’s will hear about admission decisions. The person I spoke with said, “You should be hearing from SDSU by late March.” Their answers are literally ALL OVER THE PLACE!
@trufflebutter Someone in admissions at SDSU just told me today that students who had to wait until April for their admission decisions either did not submit their e-verification on time, or something went wrong with their e-verification. She said that as long as the e-verification is submitted on time and that everything checks out, SDSU is going to try to have all admission decisions out by March 15th, but that ADT students may have to wait a week longer. I had NO idea about the .1 GPA “bump” that they allow for admissions purposes either, so needless to say I was surprised by that and am feeling pretty awesome that my 3.67 will be considered at a 3.77!
WHY IS IT STILL FEBRUARY?! This wait is killing me softly!
All over the place is right…LOL. It appears as though each person we speak to gives us different answers. I am not going to call anymore about when we will get our decisions. But the GPA bump…I am just STOKED on that.
@raychill89 So basically the person you spoke with verifies what the transfer director told me about the whole process. I’m surprised you didn’t know about the .1 gpa bump! I’ve been reading the transfer threads of the past two years and a lot of people spoke about it. That’s one more positive aspect of applying to state with an ADT degree.
In other news, I recently was admitted to Cal State Long Beach over the weekend . I was surprised to hear from them this early since their supplemental app just closed February 2nd. I still haven’t received the email stating I am now an admitted student; but, I’ve been checking the thread for CSULB and some people found out about their admission via the application status link for this specific school (as I did). This is the third university that has accepted me thus far woohoo! I am taking my admission to LB as a good sign for state because LB is almost as competitive as SDSU.
@trufflebutter Oh my goodness! Congratulations! You must feel very good and confident right about now! And yes, I’d say your chances are pretty darn high for SDSU if you got accepted into CSULB! I only applied to two schools: CSUSM and SDSU (obviously) and I have yet to hear from CSUSM at this time. Even if I got accepted to CSUSM, I wouldn’t go. I don’t even know why I wasted the $55.00 to apply haha. My plan is that if for whatever strange reason I don’t get into SDSU, I’m going to try to get into the Communication online program at ASU.
I’m glad we are finally getting consistent answers as far as when we should hear from admissions.
@raychill89 If I do not get into SDSU for whatever reason, I would be more than happy to attend CSULB! It’s an amazing school with well known alumni. Moving would kinda suck though but whatever.
As for CSUSM, its nice to have options just in case something happens out of nowhere. But do not worry, I’m sure you’re getting into SDSU. You’re a service area student receiving the ADT from Mesa at the end of this semester with a great gpa (even better now with the gap bump).
My D just received the email from CSU Long Beach that she has been accepted into the Marketing BS for the fall. She will have the AST Business from Mesa. Her GPA is 3.97 and she would like to go to SDSU over Long Beach, but she is happy to have an acceptance. My D will change her major from Business Mgt to Marketing if she gets into SDSU.
She also applied to UCSD, UCSB and UCSC as a communications major since she will also have completed all the requirements for IGETC to transfer after this spring. Good luck to everyone. I was a transfer accounting major at SDSU more than 30 years ago and it was a great school then and it is still a great school!
Got accepted to CSULB for Exercise Science BS, and that was even without the ADT (they said my JC’s kinesiology ADT didn’t articulate with their program? They’re the only school that did that to me). Cumulative GPA 3.27. Would prefer the SDSU program for pre-physical therapy but CSULB is a great school too- kind of wondering what my chances are now. I’ve only found one other person on these forums who did my program and they had a similar GPA and were also out of area (they were OC, I’m SLO). They were initially denied, but accepted a month later or something… I hate this numbers game, feels like smoke and mirrors!
Major - Public Health
Location - Moorpark College
GPA - 3.07
AA/AS-T? N/A
Hi everyone! I was wondering with the status I have, can I get accepted into SDSU and does anyone know if Public Health is impacted? Good Luck to everyone who applied!
I got denied last year from SDSU w/ a 3.00 GPA + AA-T for Political Science. I ended up attending CSULB, and this past fall I re-applied for SDSU this time with a 3.2 GPA. Hopefully I get in again so I can spend at least two semesters at the Cal State I’ve always wanted to attend.
