2015 SDSU Transfer Decisions

@SDSUHopeful4 I plan on living on campus. I feel like I could meet more people that way and what not. And I have already applied and paid my first initial payment

@lbstudies I feel the same way; and me too just got my official license agreement confirmation email today!
Have roommate and resident hall information showed up for you yet ?

@Brandb79 Oh okay! have you checked AidLink?

@SDSUHopeful4 yeah they are asking me to send in all this tax paper work >.>

@Tony11975 I got accepted as an Accounting major. My GPA is pretty low at a 3.1 and I don’t have my associates. But I am a local CCC student and finished all my pre-req’s. Honestly, it was probably a miracle that I got accepted, hah.

I don’t understand why people who are GPA lower 3.5 in business or accounting got admitted. My GPA 3.45, local CCC student, completed all the courses required and earn AST degree but still got denied. This is my second year got denied. So sad and disappointed

@businesslady have you called them and asked why you were denied? Aside from the 3.5 GPA cutoff, maybe there was an accident with your application.

@SDSUHopeful4 When you say “roommate and resident hall information” do you mean like if it has showed who my roommates are and where I am placed to live in?

If so, not yet haha, I heard we will find out by early August who our roommates are and where we will be living.
Because I am transferring in as a sophomore/junior (depending on how my credits will transfer) I was only given 3 places to choose from; Tarastec, Villa Alvarado, and Piedra del Sol. Did you have these three choices as well??

@lbstudies Yes that is what I meant ! Lol
And early August really?
And yes I had those the choices as well. I really don’t want to get Piedra del Sol, hopefully I didn’t apply to late to get stuck with that one.

@Brandb79 Ah that sucks ! >.< Hopefully they’ll resolve it soon.

@Impatient1 I have asked them why I got denied they said they don’t have specific reasons why I got denied because my major is so impact and no more spaces for me. I already appealed but I dont know I can get in or not.

I asked in the admissions office. Should I go to business department office and ask?

just wanted to share my frustration. why is it that even though transfer degree students didnt find out they were accepted til april still have to have everything sent in by May 1st? SDSU doesn’t accept electronic transcripts from one of my schools so now it’s the waiting game and hoping my transcript gets there in time. Do they not realize there is processing time for these things to be made and to be sent? I just don’t think it’s fair that my friend who found out she got in on March 4th has the same due date as me who found out over a month later…

Businesslady,
Do you mind if I ask what you wrote in your appeal letter ? Based off past admitted students that appealed they had circumstances why they needed to go to SDSU or they marked something wrong in their application. Call and ask the person to review your application. I emailed the admission counselor at sdsu and I was informed that I didn’t select my major under the emphasis of ADT degree. So even though later I checked off that I would be revising an AA-T in psychology by the end of May, I was still not consider a transfer with an ADT.

I just wrote that I was disappointed and want another chance because I completed everything required. Also I have asked the admission the reason I got denied and they said they dont have any specific reason why I got denied just because my major is impacted and a lot of students are same my major. We dont know who review our application. They dont let us know who are the reason why got denied. I want to go to the Business department and ask about it but i dont know is it work or not.
Base on your situation go to your community college and let the transfer program revising your AAT. Last year I didn’t apply for graduation from my school so they didn’t send the AST to SDSU and that’s why I got denied last year. But this year I have completed everything but I still denied even my GPA 3.45. Its not that low because minimum required for business is 2.9 But some people said now SDSU will accept GPA 3.5 and higher for business but I don’t think so, because I read in this forum one of them has same major with me but GPA 3.01 and admitted. That’s not fair

@businesslady I think there are other reasons and special considerations as to why they admit others who have lower GPAs, but they don’t outright say so. They could be students who have special circumstances like learning disabilities or EOPS.

I agree, they could also have a higher major gpa, or the lower grades were from the first semester or something we can’t see.

Not to be rude, but I sincerely hope you got help with your appeal letter. The letter needs to be concise, clear, and well written. You are trying to convince them that you belong at SDSU, not complaining about it being unfair. They have SO many applicants, they can be as picky or arbitrary as they want.

@alexisNS thanks for your advice. I hope they can give me another chance even I know it’s very hard to accept who are appeal because my GPA is not that low 3.45. I pray everyday to hope school can admitted me because if i can’t go school this year I need to find a job and work full time job again ( my job is layoff now so I really want to go to school). I dont want to waste my time. This is second time I got denied.

@ieatsushi: Can I write in the letter I was EOPS student? Oh my god I forgot about it. I was in EOPS in Mesa College last year but I didn’t go to school this year. But in my appeal letter I didn’t say about EOPS because last year the counselor in EOPS made a mistake in my application so I got denied. They calculated wrong the units and GPA… That’s why my application was messed up.

@businesslady it wouldn’t hurt to mention that. Did you already submit your appeal? I saw this http://studentaffairs.sdsu.edu/EOP/

On SDSU’s website. I’m not sure what they mean by EOP deadlines. I would call and ask see if you can reapply as a EOP student. The deadline is today.
