@katrinacullen Really? I e-mailed admissions because its been a month almost and they never got back to me. It sucks because I already accepted Fresno State Admission just in case SDSU doesn’t accept me. Its just risky to wait until July. by then, if SDSU doesn’t accept me then I’m screwed and I will basically not be going to school for a semester. But from reading a coupe posts, I see that you have to be from the area of San Diego… I’m faaar ! from San Diego. I stay In Santa Barbara County.
Good News for me is that I finally got an e-mail from SDSU saying they received my appeal and they will contact me directly when a decision is made… So now I will have to wait for a looooong time!! /:
@Brandb79 I went to the Newly Admitted Transfer Workshop during the SDSU Open House 2015 in March, And we were told that they require high school transcripts from all students, regardless if you’ve taken AP courses or not. The lady strongly urged us to get them in as soon as possible so that later on we won’t get a hold on our student account for graduation or any other admissions related hold. Also I believe that they need to come directly from your high school. I had my high school send them and they got them and updated my record no problem.
@SDSUHopeful4 I ended up calling them and they told me to disregard the June 30 2015 deadline as high school transcripts are a graduation requirement but the sooner I send it in the better
Whats the best advise can anyone give me??? Should I wait for my dream school to see if I win the appeal or accept a decision of another school so i don’t risk it??
Did any Geology majors get accepted or denied?
Ok guys here’s my stats.
Major: Business Administration (Marketing)
GPA: 3.61
Non-local (from Norcal, Bay Area)
All GE requirements completed, all major requirements completed.
I got accepted back in late March. I am very excited!
However, I am REALLY worried about one thing. Depending on whether I get a B or a C in my Calculus class this semester, my overall GPA may drop from 3.61 to either a 3.56 or 3.59. I just finished up my finals, I had a 85% in the class, but the final was kind of hard. All I know is I either got a B or a C in the class.
On the SDSU website it says: “All courses you listed as “in progress” or “planned” must be completed with grades of C or higher. You must also maintain your reported overall grade point average. Your transcripts will be used to verify your self-reported information. If your grade point average and/or current course grades drop, or if there is a discrepancy in what you reported on your application compared to your transcripts, this offer of admission may be withdrawn.”
I have seen some non-local transfer applicants get in with GPAs of 3.1 and 3.2. Is it possible that my admission may be revoked simply because my GPA dropped by a paltry 0.05 or 0.02 points? I’m just reading the above statement, and am thinking to myself… if someone had a 4.0 and wasn’t able to “maintain” their GPA during their last semester prior to transfer and it dropped a tiny bit, would that legitimately be a reason that their admission may be withdrawn?
I am going to be super upset if this is the case. There are plenty of people that got in with low 3.0s. They are not going to deny me simply because my overall GPA fluctuated down a little bit, will they?
PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Btw, I know that I could’ve made a new thread about this, but something is broken with the college confidential website. Every time I click on “New Discussion”, it simply sends me to the college confidential home page instead of opening up a new thread.
@SDSUmarketing Don’t worry. As long as your GPA doesn’t drop below your MAJOR required GPA, then you’re fine. So if the requirement is 3.0, as long as your GPA stays above it, you’ll be good. An admissions counselor from SDSU came to our school and explained that to everyone. It’s a common question, so don’t worry!
Hi guys did any of you get into eop?
@815gab I did! I already registered for “First Contact” orientation on June 6th. Have you?
@TruffleButter yes, I registered for the same day. Did you already get your confirmation?
I was wondering why I didn’t get a confirmation yet.
@815gab I haven’t received mine yet so I called the same day I registered (the first day registration opened) and asked if they received my reservation. They said that they can’t really check but that if I successfully filled out the entire application then I’m good. She also said that if we don’t receive the confirmation by the end of the month to call back and check.
@TruffleButter Thanks so much! that means I probably shouldn’t call correct? I was panicking because it has been 9 days since.
@815gab I got the acceptance email this morning. I was pretty bummed to find out that the grant for EOP isn’t for everyone, but at least we get other benefits
Anyone get any emails being accepted after appeal yet? I heard some people already been accepted after they appealed but I still waiting for the mail
Hey since you are in Norcal, what community college did you go to btw. Kind of wondering. And did you take extra curricular classes, interns, etc. Thanks.
This is towards SDSU Marketing
So after stalking this page for until my rejection in April I finally made an account. And here goes my story…
Major - AOJ (Criminal Justice)
Location - Residency in El Cajon, Attended Grossmont College
GPA - 2.9+ during denial, 3.065 after graduation from Grossmont
AS-T - Completed in Spring 2015
So I was rejected out of High School and chose not to go to any other university in an effort to go to SDSU. I was denied transfer in April 2015 most likely due to a college GPA of around 2.9+. After finding this out I was extremely pissed at Grossmont and their bogus claim of a Guaranteed Transfer. I recently just finished my Associates at Grossmont College and I started in Fall 2013, finished in June 2015 with 60 units. The next day after graduation (June 4th, 2015) I was sent an email stating I was approved for admission due to my appeal which was sent in around late April. If you’re curious about my appeal, I stated that an injury to my mother prevented me from focusing on school, I also included the medical documents proving the injury. So now at this point I am eligible to attend SDSU. At this time I don’t even know if I still want to go there because I’ve already prepared to go to SJSU and SDSU has pissed me off enough lol.
@padres21 There is a lot of confusion about the AA/AS-Ts being a “degree with a guarantee”. Unfortunately, getting an ADT does not guarantee admission to any particular university, rather, it is a guarantee into the CSU system which could be any one of the CSUs. When I was denied admission from CSUSM due to being out of their local area, my application was forwarded to several other CSUs and I was provisionally admitted to CSU Bakersfield and CSU Channel Islands pending final transcripts without ever having applied to those schools. I think that’s what the guarantee is: if you’re denied admission to your school of preference, another CSU will admit you guaranteed. I’m sorry about your fiasco with SDSU, and whether or not you decide to go there or SJSU, I wish you the best of luck!
