@incalescent When I was accepted, I received this email:
Dear [name],
Congratulations! After careful review of your Windows on Williams (WOW) application, I am thrilled to inform you that you have been selected to be a WOW participant this fall!
This year, we are on pace to receive a record number of WOW applications for only 200 spots. Your selection for WOW is a strong first step in your application process to Williams, and we hope your three-day WOW experience will give you a sense of the incredible resources and opportunities available to our students.
Congratulations once again on this terrific accomplishment. We look forward to meeting you this fall. If you have any questions or we can help in any way in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to be in touch.
Also applied by July 15th Deadline, have heard nothing but cricket sounds. Hopefully Williams is taking a while because they’re just reading and re-reading my essay – because of how great it is.
Received my decision! Unfortunately I was rejected, but I’ll definitely take advantage of the fee waiver. I also received an offer to get feedback from an admissions officer about my application–will definitely take that up too. Hope the rest of you all got in!
Not my most dignified moment, but I had a weird spasm when I found out I got in. I was almost sure I was going to get rejected: home schooled, white, non-first generation and even Questbridge didn’t accept me last spring. It feels so crazy.
@canunot I kind of stalked your profile, and it seems like we were in a similar boat for Questbridge: not URM, not 1st gen, high assets and high test scores for Questbridge (though your test scores are quite a bit higher than mine, to which I say, props, man.)
If you’re going to the October Williams date, maybe I’ll see you around.
@DressingIron Cool, I’m probably going to the October one! @littlehappy Yeah I would try to finish the essay (it’s not too bad and can be reused) and then call the office tmrw
My daughter heard back by email today, and she did not get in. Williams did offer a phone interview about her application, though, and will waive the application fee, which is a classy way of letting someone down. Bracing for the normal round of applications and probable rejections …
I know this sounds terribly snooty, but uh – do accepted students get fee waivers too? Because if so that’d be sweet; I don’t really have the scratch to apply to Williams otherwise.
@DressingIron - congratulations! Judging from the other fly-in programs where D1 was accepted, yes, accepted students would certainly get fee waivers, plus more insights into the application process and what the admissions office is looking for.
