Mine shows that too. I think it’s an error because 1. Their blog lists five personal essay prompts and instructs you to check which one you’re responding to 2. That’s not personal at all!

The instructional YouTube video featured was posted less than a month ago so this seems current.
@trojanwoman I think it’s different for transfers. The other prompts are for freshmen.
Aw, damn it that’s no fun
Is this the official 2016 transfer thread¿
@Deangeloyouknow
Yup. Its as “official” as any school specific transfer thread exists on this forum.
Does anyone know if submitting your application before February 1 increases your chances of admission? My plan was not to submit my application until December after I get my fall semester grades and have refined my essay questions with my professors. Also, I’d really like to get into Marshall, but would putting my second option as Economics increase my chances of getting into USC? I’ve heard Dornsife is much easier to get into than Marshall.
@TroyUSC2016 Nope, it doesn’t increase or decrease your chances as far as I know. I submitted mine literally 15 minutes before the deadline and I still managed to get in. :))
Take your time and make it the best application possible. It’s good to put a second major option so they can consider you for another major. Dornsife is generally easier to get into compared to Marshall, yes.
@mochibbycake Mind if I asked your stats/major?
@TroyUSC2016 Im also coming from a CSU. I am a physics major.
I also heard that the chances are slim but they are not impossible. I called the admissions office about 2 months ago and explained to the lady that answered the phone what my situation was, and she didn’t make it sound like transferring from a CSU or any 4 year Univerisity for that matter was any different than transferring from a CC. Of course she wasn’t an admissions officer, so who knows.
@TroyUSC2016 No problem! I got a SGR in May. The thing with me was that I applied for Marshall as my first choice and Econ as my second choice, but then I realized that I didn’t want to pursue either of those anymore so I emailed my admissions counselor in June to change to Sociology and she allowed me to.
Stats:
[ *] Entering as: Junior
[ *] GPA: 3.46 at the time of application, 3.68 after spring grades
[ *] ECs listed on app: Honors Student (completed program as well), have held three different officer positions for my honors club, tons of volunteer hours from various organizations (Reading to Kids, LAWorks, my club, etc.), administrative assistant for a furniture company, mentor for autistic college students, ran an online business
[ *] Job/Work Experience: none
[ *] Letters of Recommendation: 1 from the Director of the Honors Program
@mochibbycake what about all the classes you took towards business? I’m glad to hear about your success getting in though!
I’m thinking about transferring to USC as a film major, but I’m just wondering if they accept lower-division transfers? I just started my freshman year at a CSU so I don’t even have a college GPA yet lol but my high school uw gpa was 3.8 and weighted was 4.0
@queenhalsey my friend got in last year , and is now attending as a sophomore. She was at the same CSU I am.
@TroyUSC2016 A lot of those transferred as elective credit. I had some personal issues at the beginning of my college semester so that’s why my GPA is relatively low, but I picked myself up and I’m glad USC believed in the upward trend!
@queenhalsey Yes, USC does accept sophomore transfers. However, specifically for your film major, it states that they want you to have at least 48 units. Information here: https://cinema.usc.edu/production/transferprocedures.cfm ; You can always call the department and ask questions to be sure.
@mochibbycake thank you for pointing that out! I totally missed that!
@mochibbycake I’m in the same situation. Last semester was rough for me due to a variety of personal issues, but I know I’m capable of a high GPA these next two semesters and hopefully all goes well!
@mochibbycake are you behind now since you’ve switched majors? just curious
@TroyUSC2016 Yep! They’ll definitely consider it.
Nope, not at all! I switched to Sociology. There was only one major req I could take at my CC (Intro to Sociology) and I did take that. I took as all the USC GEs that were offered at my school and I’ve planned out my courses already – I’ll still be able to graduate in two years. (But that’s because there aren’t that many lower division requirements for Socio. It all depends which majors you’re moving from and to.)
