2016/2017 UT Austin Transfer Thread

@uttransfer28 you good, i would bet on you getting in

@30plusUndergrad Your case is unique, it should work in your favor but your GPA is pretty low for Mccombs. Considering your situation I think you have chance because you are older, more serious, and have experience but that GPA still isn’t great. If you were to get in, it would be because your story is pretty unique and show dedication.

Appreciate it. Hope you’re right, i’m worried about my essays. The wait is driving me crazy!

@utcswannabe my gpa didn’t drop below a 3.9 until I was attending UCI. I got in as a math major and was taking the req courses for that major while trying to internally transfer to business. Unfortunately I was awful in my proofs classes. :confused: I explained it all in one of my essays. So I hope they understand.

@30plusUndergrad I have had bad teachers in the past, but I have never written about them. If you did, i hope you were careful when talking about about a terrible professor (unless it was REALLY bad). Talking negatively about a prof is a no no when it comes to admissions essays.

@UTtransfer I’d say 95% chance of acceptance

@sp00ky Appreciate it. We are getting closer. People started hearing back around mid April last year.

@UTtransfer really the only people that will hear back in that time frame are those that have 30 hours and all of their pre-req’s completed. For the rest of us , UT will not give us a decision until we have all of our pre-req’s in and our spring transcript in.

@UTtransfer If you will only have 30 hrs or more completed after the semester is over, you will hear back by June 15th. Don’t forget to mail them your final transcript by June 1st.

In general, not taking into account that some majors are easier to get into than others? What is the chance of me being accepted into COLA with a 3.826 GPA?

Sorry for the double, but 3.82 is competitive enough for COLA in general correct?

Anyone need a roommate for UT? I called UT and they said that it’s very unlikely any of us are going to get housing from UT. I’m pretty quiet, CS major and have a car.

@mccombs17orbust Do you happen to know the pre-reqs for COLA (History) I can’t seem to find them on the website.

@utcswannabe What kind of housing are you planning on looking for? I’m a COLA hopeful from out of state, also pretty quiet, generally introverted though not antisocial.

@rjbolger I messaged you!

Is anyone else literally dying? I check mystatus 9034092 times a day… I can’t take the wait any longer :frowning:

@adr1697 Same here fam, same here

To my knowledge (always call advising) there are not any pre-req’s for COLA outside of economics and Environmental Science. If you’re not planning on going into those two fields you should be good.

How do you all know that everyone will hear back by June 15th? Have the UT admissions representatives said so or is it just a guess based on last year?
