2016/2017 UT Austin Transfer Thread

@Osaidmk1 I think your chances look good. If anyone else needs to be chanced feel free to ask, I am more than willing. Hook Em!

I think most people (myself included) that are wanting to be chanced are just looking for any affirmation that they can get. Its tough when there’s no clear answer.

^^ same. Applying to COLA and I’m thankful that COLA is a lot more accepting of applicants with regards to GPA. Still tho, just want to get in and get some honest opinions.

Im not necessarily “annoyed” its just that the thread is littered with them. Its the same answer all the time, if the person asking for a “chance me” has a lower gpa, the response is going to be “your gpa is a little low, but your extracurricular activities might give you a chance.” If the person’s stats are high, then its the typical “you have a good chance.” bottom line… if you applied, you have a chance, if not, then you have no chance. @Osaidmk1

“Chance me” is a huge part of this thread. It is just a little bit of reassurance or reality to help with the torture of the wait. I was a part of last Falls thread, and chance me was a huge part of it. I got accepted mid June, so every bit of any convo here helped. It is also helpful to see, when the decisions role out, the credentials of those people who posted “chance me”

Yo guys I am kinda in a unique situation. So in my first year, I ended up with a. 3.52 w/ 15 quarter units and 3.68 with 16 quarter units. I also took some courses during high school (junior year) and I didn’t do to well. I took math and physics and my overall gpa just for that was 2.5. But that was High school. I am wondering how my grades in cc during high school will impact me as a transfer student.

Also, I took physics part 2 in my current college and got an A. I am applying as a computer science major. I did an internship at a high tech company in the Silicon Valley. Can you guys tell me what my chances are to get into UT Austin?

does anyone know if they’ll send out emails when you get accepted or denied? checking Mystatus is too much for me now cause i do it everyday for nothing. if they do send out email, i’ll just wait for that email then…live my days not knowing rather than keep checking and only see " In review" i guess lol

Does it effect my chances that the majority of my credit is in AP courses? I only have a semester of college classes on my transcript, but I couldn’t apply later because, then, I would have been over 60 hours.

@Meiliu If I remember correctly, on last years thread they said your Mystatus says it way before you get an email.

@UTtransfer ugh i guess i have to keep checking then

The email comes about a day after the mystatus is updated. Maybe a bit less but atleast a few hours so best to keep Checking MyStatus.

Best,

I NEED A DECISION AHYHHHHHH

Last year no decisions were released before the 19th of this month, it seems, so I’d put off checking MyStatus religiously until then.

It’s really tempting, though.

@roer345 it really depends on your luck. I’m in a similar situation and had been looking all over for an answer. There are people who got in with a few F in the past but a good standing now because of their holistic review. but from previous posts, minus your past gpa the average is 3.75 and above to be competitive. Try to go back to last year s admission thread. Might be able to calm u down a bit.

I am betting I am going to get my admission decision on April 22nd, for some reason that date keeps popping up. LMAO

@utcswannabe how would you get your acceptance before May 1? Do they release them sooner than that?

Does UT’s posted transfer acceptance rate include CAP students?

@roer345 your GPA is really low, average for liberal arts. You internship is notable but I’d say your chances are low. GPA is the biggest deciding factor, and they don’t care what college you come from so CC wont hurt you at all.

.

@utcswannabe

When u say his GPA is average for COLA, which one are you talking about? The 3.5 or the 3.6?
