2016/2017 UT Austin Transfer Thread

I wouldn’t be surprised if they are saying that just to be completely safe. I could very well be wrong, but it seems like this June 15th deadline has been pretty consistent over the years in previous threads and hopefully will hold for this year as well.

yea ive been looking at previous threads and a good part of acceptances for COLA came around 9-10 at night on June 15. and then 8-9 in the morning on the 16th of june.

Honestly i’m not surprised that UT is going to release half of decisions on the deadline. When I applied as a HS senior, I don’t think I heard back until April, they seem to take forever on everything haha.

@UTCStransferr That’s pretty strange, I wonder why they do that. I kind of picture them just doing nothing and procrastinating until the last day, but i’m sure that’s not happening. I think more likely is that they are evaluating the applicants multiple times and ranking us accordingly for decisions to be released tomorrow.

@UTMccombs2017 @masterblitz71 Yeah she may just be saying that to be completely safe, but I mean I wouldn’t surprised if it wasn’t just that. She didn’t give me any sign whatsoever that most people would get their decisions tomorrow. But she did say, which I guess was a sign that most would come out tomorrow, “…So if you don’t get your decision tomorrow, you should get it soon.”

The July stuff just really freaked me out because that’s ridiculous. That gives you NO time to figure out housing and such. Hopefully I will be lucky and get admitted before then. Good luck everyone.

@krisstory99 Yeah, that is extremely late but there is nothing we can do. Are you not CAP?

@krisstory99 I mean I suppose it doesn’t matter. I would bet money that you will be accepted sometime tomorrow.

@UTMccombs2017 I went and met an admissions counselor last December and she said that they evaluate every point of your application, meaning actually reading your essays, checking the difficulty of the classes you took, etc… so maybe every admissions representative looks at every application and then they take a vote or something? That’s the only reality I can come up with that would result in them taking this long.

@UTCStransferr @krisstory99 Do youguys know whether or not they can tell if the class you took was online or not? I am a bit worried because I took a rather easy THTR class online last semester, and it turns out it does transfer. Can they tell if it was taken online?

Nevermind I just called, the answer is no unless specifically stated in the transcript.

@UTMccombs2017 nah I don’t think it tells them because I’m sure that could cause some bias even though the curriculums are supposedly the same for online and regular classes. Gosh I just hope my application is overall good enough besides just my GPA to get into Government (4.0 GPA). I assume I should be fine but ya never know.

Also no im not CAP, I went to Kilgore College for my first year.

Will someone chance me?
ACC transfer student
31 hours
4.0 GPA
first choice major Health & Society
second choice major Psychology
1 LOR from an ACC professor and UT alumn
2 good essays
solid transcript
I was admitted as a CAP student last year so admissions has seen my name before

@crw54 It is extremely likely you will be accepted.

So I called admissions again and they told me that TONS of decisions will be released tomorrow. The majority of us have been being evaluated for a while now, and they will be finally releasing those decisions tomorrow. They release them in waves throughout the day so the system doesn’t crash.

Can someone chance me I will be applying for next fall,

Hey y’all!
I’ve been lurking this thread since March but haven’t posted yet so here it is…
I got accepted into RTF!!! I found out on June 8th.
I had a 3.7 GPA, no LOR and no EC. I had 49 credits accepted from HCC. In all honesty, I think it was my essays that saved me. Never underestimate the power of words!
If anyone is going to the July 17-18 orientation, reach out to me so we can meet up!!
Best of luck to everyone!!

@utcshopeful How many LOR, and how good do you think your essays were?

Applied to McCombs with a 3.97 GPA from UTD. 36 hours, 3 reference letters, decent essays. However I also applied to UT out of HS with terrible stats and was denied. Do you guys think my previous rejection and stats will hurt my chances?

@sp00ky Were all here because we did poorly in high school. Most of us anyways. Admissions claims they won’t take it into account, and i’ll take their word for it. Your chances look very good. Your GPA is very likely going to be above average, so it really is going to depend on how good the rest of your application is. Have you read your LOR, or have any idea how good they are?

*Higher than average of admitted McCombs, of course.
