At around 4:30 I was admitted to COLA International Relations and Global Studies! 30 hours, 4.0 GPA, 2LOR, 2 essays!
Is there anyone here that was accepted to externally transfer last year and this year you’re internally transferring? Do y’all know if they take your cumilitave GPA from all colleges or your UT GPA? I hear you start over when you transfer externally. Also, does anyone know anything about double majoring and how that works???
Well today was terribly underwhelming. I suppose it isn’t over yet though.
My appeal was officially denied today. I’m slightly confused as to why I wasn’t accepted (just based on the stats I’ve read on here, as well as people I know who were accepted).
I applied as an external transfer to the RTF program, had a 3.892 GPA, 2 good essays, a LOR from a current screenwriter (who was a teacher of mine), and 80+ hours volunteering at a film festival. I also had 60+ credit hours that did transfer.
Does anyone know if it would be easier for me to apply to a COLA program for the spring, and try to transfer internally in the fall?
@madeleine2020 You can call and ask admissions about it, and they will give you a rough idea why. Did you miss any prerequisites?
@UTMccombs2017 I called admissions earlier in the week, and the guy I talked to said I had everything I needed, it was just competition. He told me to appeal, because my GPA was so high. But seeing people I know and people on here get in with lower GPAs and less ECs and LORs, I’m still confused.
@madeleine2020 I would call again tomorrow and ask them why specifically. Ask what other applicants had that you didn’t have. If they can’t tell by looking at your resume, it may be that your essays were weak.
@UTMccombs2017 I will call tomorrow. Honestly I felt like my essays were strong. One was a piece that my writing teacher loved, and the other I had friends proofread. I wrote about being an Australian and American citizen, and my time living in Australia, and also about women in the film industry, and the sexism I’ve experienced on student films.
@madeleine2020 Were you classified as international or OOS?
I was in-state, I’ve lived in Texas since I was 9 @UTMccombs2017
@madeleine2020 Yeah, I can’t help you too much then. Best to call and get a rough idea.
@UTMccombs2017 thanks, it’s honestly been a confusing week. Thanks for trying to help!
got into COLA Government. 4.0 GPA 30 hours, 2 essays, no LOR, lots of EC’s.
Still nothing from McCombs - crazy
@bevo2017 I really hope we hear something tonight, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
still in review for COLA
I got accepted to COLA psychology B.A.!! 4.0 GPA, 34 hours, 1 LOR
@madeleine2020 Are you wanting to apply to get in for the Fall or would you apply in Fall for the next spring semester? You have to have two long semesters to be able to internally transfer into Moody.
@duddy113 I would love to get in this fall, but unfortunately was denied.
I want to apply to get in this upcoming spring semester (spring 2018), but RTF doesn’t have rolling admission, so I was considering applying to a COLA major and eventually try to transfer in.
If I have to wait two long semesters, am I better off staying at CC a whole other year, and trying to get into RTF externally with a COLA backup (fall 2018)? and if that doesn’t work, apply fall 2019 as an internal?
Still nothing from Moody or COLA for me :’(
