2016/2017 UT Austin Transfer Thread

Officially denied from McComb’s.

4.0 GPA UT Tyler, all prerequisites completed.
3.07 GPA Dual Credit (Kill me)
3.72 Cumulative
Grew a Finance organization from 5 to 30 members as the President.
3 Very well written essays that were reviewed multiple times.
7 Letters of recommendation, two of which stated I was the best student they ever had at UT Tyler.
Extensive community service from my organization.

I didn’t apply anywhere else because I wasn’t aware Dual Credit would factor in.
I don’t really know what else to say.

@UTMccombs2017 Sorry to hear that, what was your second choice?

@UTMccombs2017 if you don’t mind the drive, Texas State is still taking applications until July 15

@UTMccombs2017 Appeal the shit out of that application.

@UTCStransferr Economics, which should pull through.

@sp00ky That’s the plan. I’m not expecting anything, but it’s worth a shot.

Anybody else get a decision from Moody??

still waiting on moody lol

@heheMcCombs Are you talking to me?

Hey y’all, I just called admissions and they said what we already know, that they made that date before they knew the number of applicants and that there IS a delay. He asked for my UT EID and then said that I should hear either today or sometime this weekend but most likely no later. IF they are doing admission based on GPA, I have a 3.365 if that might help anybody get a better timeframe of their admission decision.

Got rejected from McCombs (Marketing)

External transfer
3.91 GPA
69 credits
2 LOR
Decent essays

Still happy to say I’ll be attending USC in the fall instead!

Very sorry to hear - you have good numbers! Can I ask how you performed in your indicator classes - i.e Micro Econ, Macro Econ, Cal 1, Ca2 - ?

@bevo2017 I finished with a 125 in Macro, 113 in Micro, Cal 1 I had from AP, and Cal 2 was a 96.

@bevo2017 4.00 in all indicator classes, including Calc 1 and 2 that I took in high school (not sure if that hurt me taking those college courses in HS). I had only 2 B’s, unfortunately one of those was a business class though.

@bevo2017 @zpserry79 My bad, I thought you were talking to me.

Great numbers & that does not makes sense?? Not sure why they are rolling your Dual Credit GPA together. As a CAP student, I checked w/ admissions and they have my GPA listed without my Dual credit classes? Maybe in your instance, is that what they do for External/non-CAP students??

@zpserry79 I’m jealous! I’d rather be at USC than McCombs.

@bevo2017 Yeah, I talked to the head of Externals and she told me they would only look at my cumulative GPA. If that is the case for CAP students, that really sucks since I actually denied the CAP program…

@UTMccombs2017 SMU still has their transfer application open. I toured the Cox school of business and was very impressed, would of accepted my admission there if things didn’t work out with McCombs.

@sp00ky My family can’t afford that, unfortunately. Thanks for the idea anyways, though.
