2016/2017 UT Austin Transfer Thread

Feel bad for you because I think you deserve to be in w/ those #'s. Curious why you denied the CAP program when you attended UT Tyler who participates in the CAP program?

@bevo2017 I didn’t want to do Liberal Arts, I had my heart set on business. I thought it would show the committee that I am dedicated to my major, but looks to be the opposite.

@UTMccombs2017 how do you know you were officially rejected from mccombs but haven’t been put into economics yet?

@collegekid123 I called admissions, and the guy told me I was denied from my first choice McComb’s and currently being evaluated for Econ. By the way, that’s what the URL means. If you used to have 00 and 01, but now have 00 and 02, you were denied from your first major and are being evaluated for your second.

@UTMccombs2017 I see, sucks for your outcome on mccombs. But economics is still in and of itself a very good major. Some colleges even put it in together with business. You can find a lot of business jobs with an economics degree. Janet Yellen the head of the u.s federal reserve system and has an economics degree!

From the admissions office (just called again). “So we were not able to finalize all decisions yesterday, we’re going to be rolling decisions out today and into next week. The servers typically update in the afternoon around 5-6pm so I would be checking around then.” Trying to exercise patience but the wait is killing me :open_mouth:

@collegekid213 From an Ivy League university, which doesn’t have an undergraduate business program. The only Ivy that does have an undergrad business is Cornell.

@UTMccombs2017 I have 03, any idea what that could mean?

@collegekid213 Sorry not trying to be cynical, I’m just a bit upset. Thanks for the optimism.

@UTCStransferr No idea. Keep us updated on what happens.

@UTMccombs2017 You could do the Econ - Masters of Finance fast track program at UT. https://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/Master-of-Science-in-Finance/Admissions/ECON-MSF

@sp00ky Interesting, I will have to look into that for sure. Thanks a lot man.

mine went from 00 from yesterday to 01 today. hope I get a decision

Is it really difficult to transfer internally once you’ve already transferred in?

@UTMccombs2017 I’m so sorry :frowning: thank you for all your advice yesterday, I wish you had gotten in.
I called admissions, and for the second time I was told there was no indicator as to why I was denied to RTF. I’ve talked to two different counselors there, and I’ve been told twice that my application looks good and that a had a good GPA, so I’m still not quite sure.

anyone who has called admissions: did you use the ‘counselor finder’ and get the number to call? or did you just use the number for immediate assistance?

@UTMccombs2017 you know for sure that’s what the URL represents?

^^ Yes, did the admissions counselor tell you that?

Accepted into McCombs
4.0 UTA CAP Program. HOOK EM!

Good luck to everyone else on the board!!

@yungchildish @aatwe28 Yes, that’s what he told me. This is also the same guy that told me Dual Credit WOULDNT factor into my decision though, so take it with caution.
