Can some please make an official Class of 2020 Acceptance Thread so we can all share how we got in like others in years past?
@sanjayravi16 should I start one?
@jumpingstar That would be awesome if you did!
Mommdc is correct, we are not open on the weekends. We are open now, though! (8:30am-5pm EST) Feel free to give our Visit Center a call and we will be happy to assist you: 412-624-7717

Thank you. We got a response from the visit center. If anybody else is interested in sitting in on a class - you do not need to pre-register. You can just walk in and sit in the back of the classroom.
I submitted my application on 10/23/15, submitted the short answers a week after that, and my application was marked complete early November. Is it safe to say that I can expect to receive a decision sometime this week?
@marauder123456, It may come this week. But don’t be concerned if it comes a little later, we are closed Thu-Fri for Thanksgiving.
Best of luck,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer
Thank you very much.
Isn’t this effectively the Class of 2020 acceptance thread? If you make another one, you’ll lose all of the acceptances that are already noted in this thread.
Hello everyone! I have a quick question. My application was marked complete almost 3 weeks ago, but I still have not heard anything from Pitt. Is this unusual? A lot of the people posting on here seem to be getting their decisions pretty quickly, so I just wanted to understand if I should be worried or if this is normal. Thanks!
@panther2016 My son’s app was complete 11/5 and he has not heard either. So I think it is quite common. Some people with very high stats are seeing their apps processed quickly, but other than that I don’t think much can be read into how long it is taking to receive an answer. In addition to those folks posting here that have been admitted to main campus, I have heard of other folks who were given an answer and the answer was that they were admitted but to a branch campus.
So, at this point, possibly better to have no decision yet than to have a decision that you were admitted to a branch or outright rejected. Although that is always still a possible future outcome, at least knowing that it hasn’t happened yet you are still in the running to be America’s Next Top Model . . .oops I mean to be admitted to Pittsburgh main campus
Also if you have any new information, like new test scores or first quarter grades or if you have not yet submitted the essay questions, things that might strengthen your application, it wouldn’t hurt to send them.
Was just wondering, how long does it take for Pitt to receive and update the application portal for ACT scores. I sent my scores on Sunday 11/15 and it says that Pitt hasn’t received them yet. Any word on this? All of my other schools received and updated scores in a matter of 5 days max.
I think it takes 7-10 business days for SAT scores so they might not have gotten there yet.
@adlgel Thanks. I thought my stats were pretty good, so maybe they just haven’t gotten to my application yet?
@bigtenhopeful34 If Pitt doesn’t receive your ACT scores for some reason, they also sometimes accept an alternate form of the scores. My SAT scores did not send properly because the collegeboard was having technical problems, so I contacted the admissions counselor for my region and asked her what to do. She allowed me to send her a screenshot of my scores as long as my name was somewhere in the picture. If your scores don’t send soon, maybe try to contact your admissions counselor?
@mommdc You would submit first quarter grades without being asked to do so by Admissions? My D app has been marked complete since 10/27 w/essays and it’s nothing but crickets here. Her first MP grades come out today.
@balaur that’s what I’m wondering too. Also do first semester grades affect scholarships?
Based on how streamlined the application process is, they probably prefer that you don’t send additional materials unless requested or they show an improvement (better grades or SAT/ACT scores). I wouldn’t expect 1st marking period grades to have an impact on scholarships unless it shows significant improvement, e.g. that you went from having a B average to an A.
It is not necessary to send your first quarter grades unless we reach out and ask for them. Don’t be concerned about your applications. If the status is marked complete, you should hear back from us shortly. Thanks for your patience!
