@balaur We got the same email as well. It is simply a holiday promo as you surmised already. It includes a .gif type animation of a tree with fall foliage and the Cathedral of Learning in the background. A Pitt Panther appears, the foliage shakes off the tree and the panther is next viewed wearing the foliage in the form of a turkey’s feathers.
I have to admit we got our hopes up seeing the email and once we saw it we were slightly disappointed it wasn’t an email related to an acceptance decision. We would love to see one of those emails pop up :).
The email with the Panther and leaves is just a holiday greeting.
The #pittcomingsoon email (featuring a video showing different parts of campus personalized with the student’s name) is an email announcing that the recipient has been admitted to Pitt. An admission letter follows that email.
@hailtopitt1787 My daughter was accepted back in October. She would like to sit in at some classes. She sent an email to admissions a few days ago and got no response. Is there anybody else that she could contact? Thank you.
Wondering if we should check with admissions office…? S submitted application end Sept, had school send transcript, which they did by third week in Oct, submitted email question responses Oct 24. My.pitt has shown application complete for some time, but getting a little concerned that he hasn’t heard yet. Very strong SAT, weaker but above accepted average GPA.
@Twodogsnight, You should be fine if the application is marked as complete in my.pitt.edu. You will hear soon, I am guessing. Thanks for your patience!
@hailtopitt1787 I submitted my application on 10/12 and it was marked complete 10/21 and my short answers were completed on 10/28 or 10/29. I was wondering when I should hear back with a decision.
@aburrz, I can’t give you an exact estimate, but you should hear soon! Our Admissions Committee is working hard to give everyone a thorough and efficient review. Thanks for your patience.
@jupiter98, Thanksgiving break is coming up soon and after that the students will get ready for final exams.
Maybe it would be better to set up something in January, after Christmas break?
Sometimes it takes a few days go hear back by email, you could also try and call.
Accepted student days start in the spring.
I guess there is one “picture yourself at Pitt” event on Dec 5
@mommdc Thank you. She did call and got no answer DH is going to be there on business on specific dates, so I am a little bit anxious to finilize her tour. She will keep trying.
