2016 Acceptances

I was talking about someone who might fear being rejected because it’s been a while since they applied.

Others have reported that it was about 3-4 weeks until they got their acceptance.

Anyways, @hailtopitt1787 recommended to not send anything that wasn’t requested so you just have to be patient.

Did those who heard within a few weeks self-report grades (rather than have HS send transcript)? Thanks.

@twodogsnight My son self reported his grades, but also applied in early September. Decisions are probably taking longer now due to increased volume.

Has anyone received a decision this week?

@hailtopitt1787 - i received the honors challenge full tuition scholarship, and I was wondering if you could provide me on more information on what that is.

@kat415, Congrats on your scholarship! Your letter should have outlined the basics (and most of what I know) about your scholarship, could you let me know more specifically what you are wondering about? I can help you find the answer!

Also, just to clarify, are you referring to “Honors College Full Tuition Scholarship”?

Thanks!

I think there is a full tuition scholarship that is called “Honors Challenge scholarship” that she is referring to?

My understanding is that it might be a form of diversity/underrepresented minority scholarship?

I sent out my application on 11/2. I’m just wondering when I would receive my acceptance letter? Did anyone apply the same time as me and already get and acceptance?

I applied on 10/2 and received my acceptance on 10/22. My GPA is a 3.8 UW and my ACT is a 31.

Hi! Congratulations to everyone who’s accepted.

Accepted
GPA-3.78
SAT-2210

Intended Major: Accounting

Applied August 28th
Accepted October 6th

How long does it typically take to hear back from Pitt, about 3-6 weeks?

Lately it sounds like it’s been about a month from the time everything including scores is received.

Yeah, I handed in my application October 23 and still haven’t heard back. Hopefully today or sometime this week.

It looks like 4-6 weeks, but it might be taking longer due to the holidays.

Congrats to all who were accepted!
@hail2pitt1787 My son was accepted to Swanson School of Engineering (Computer Engineering) a few days back. We are OOS…I’m assuming that Swanson is in the Main Campus…right? And, when we received the letter, we did not receive any information on scholarships. When can we expect scholarship information?

@DSNJ2016, Congrats to your son! The Swanson School of Engineering is located in the Pittsburgh campus, yes.

As for scholarships, the scholarship committee automatically reviews any admitted student who applies before Jan 15. They make decisions weekly and notify recipients as they go. That means some students are hearing back already, but the majority of students won’t hear until quite a bit later. The scholarship selection process is very competitive, so it’s not unusual for a student’s application to be reviewed multiple times before a decision is made. Bottom line, anyone who is selected to receive a scholarship will hear back by March 1 at the latest. Good luck!

Hello… Registered all needed items by Nov 18th, marked complete a few days later. How long of a wait should I expect? Probably 2-3 weeks from now?

My application to Pitt is marked as complete however, I have yet to submit my short answer responses. I did not think my application would be marked as complete prior to my completion of the short answer questions. At this point should I bother to submit my short answer responses?

Your application is considered complete after you submit your application, SAT/ACT scores, transcript or self reported academic record, and application fee. The short answers are optional, but can help to strengthen your application.

@Student 1973- Yes! My d did not get the initial email to respond to the questions when she completed her app. After about 10 days, I saw some posts on here that an email should have been sent. I called and they immediately sent the email. My d then submitted the answers about two weeks after getting the email. However- that was before Pitt started the scholarship review process. Since that has already started, I would call and let your admissions counselor know that you would like to submit the answers for scholarship consideration and ask for any specific directions. If it is not too late, I would follow-up with an email to the admissions counselor to let them know of your intent to complete the answers and provide the date by which they will be submitted.
