My daughter went to a wedding over the weekend. It was a reschedule from last year. The bride and groom are medical professionals who have been vaccinated since early in the year.
The invitations said that they only wanted fully vaccinated guests to attend in person so that everyone could fully enjoy the festivities without worry. If you were not vaccinated then you were invited to view the wedding on zoom.
My daughter had to fib to the vaccine center (only by a week) so that she could be fully vaccinated by the wedding date. She said it was so nice to be able to enjoy a party without worry.
My sonās small (20 guests) wedding was very nice. It was at outdoor venue. Everyone in attendance were fully vaccinated or had Covid in the past so we were not wearing masks. They didnāt have wedding planner or coordinator so we all had to do a lot of legwork but wedding was a total success and very low budget. The biggest expense was photographer and videographer. I got my my dress at https://www.ever-pretty.com for under $50 and it was absolutely lovely and I got a lot of compliments. Everyone in attendance enjoyed it.
Finally, 18 months after signing the contract and one postponed date, Iām leaving tomorrow for DS wedding! All my fingers and toes are crossed hoping it will be everything theyāve hoped for. Itās a destination wedding at a lovely lake/golf resort. The ceremony will be lakeside with dinner under a tent and dancing in a beautiful barn. Bride is getting her wish for fireworks at the end of the evening.
Both bride and groom recently left the military so their friends are coming from far and wide. Final number is 85 which is smaller than the original plans but still a really good number given all the circumstances. Our family hasnāt seen each other since Thanksgiving 2019 so it will be wonderful to gather for a celebration. And with the holiday weekend the fun will last a bit longer than originally planned.
@bookworm@soozievt@thunderflop@college_query and anyone else I missed who gave me MOB suggestions. I have seriously procrastinated and am just now looking at some of those. I was waylaid last few months - my Dad has stroke and was in hospital for 5 weeks when he died. I am POA for uncle with dementia who I am moving into AL and trying to get all finances straight. Wedding in September and Iām now feeling panicked. Wish I knew somewhere around here to make something.
I will look thru all suggestions again. If you see anything new, let me know. Reminder - need petite, probably 12, D wants long, bridesmaid dark hunter green so most colors would be ok, donāt love lots of sparkle, like lace if it doesnāt look cheap, sleeves or some type of sheer jacket preferred.
Other than MOB dress things are going well. Ds dress here and fits pretty well. Bridesmaid dresses in. Invitations here and ready to be addressed. Things are looking up COVID wise. Now just have to concerned about hurricane seasonš¤Ŗ
I thought I would pipe in that I had found a dress i really liked for ds1ās expected March 2021 wedding. They eloped last November and expect to have the big ceremony this Nov. I was bummed to not get to wear the short dress that I had picked for the March wedding, but I decided to wear it this month for ds1ās graduation from graduate school. I got so many compliments. At first, I felt a little extra, but plenty of people dressed up for this outside graduation, and it worked really well.
The hunt for the long, fall dress will begin this summer ā¦
So my nieceās wedding is on for August 22 at the summer camp. My younger daughter is going to sing 4 songs with a recorded score. Sheās quite talented and can sing anything. The bride and groom like country music, but we are struggling to come up with a processional for the bridesmaids. The brideās processional is Me and You (Kenny Chesney), From this Moment On (Shania Twain) after the ring exchange, This Kiss (Faith Hill) for the recessional. The bride and groom are NOT picky, so all suggestions welcome.
OK, all the other songs are older so Iāve given some newer things and classics. BTW, I love This Kiss. I belt that one out in the car. I want to go to this wedding!
Speechless ā Dan + Shay
In Case You Didnāt Know ā Brett Young
Prayed for You ā Matt Stell
Last Turn Home ā written by Maren Morris/Ryan Hurd when they werenāt even dating but now they are married and have a kid, and I just love them on this. It probably wouldnāt be known by a lot of people, but I kind of like that. Makes for interesting listening instead of tuning out because you know the song. It was recorded by Tim McGraw, but I really love their version.
I Cross My Heart ā GS
When You Say Nothing At All ā Keith Whitley ā¦ Man, I love this song!
I Swear ā John Michael Montgomery
I Can Love You Like That ā JMM
When I Said I Do ā Clint Black
My friend had her first dance to āSheās a good-hearted woman in love with a goodtiminā manā. I think it was an accident (just what was played by the band at when it was time to dance), but we all thought it was hysterical and perfect for them.
@twoinanddone There is no DJ/dancing. B/G donāt dance so we are having camp activities for the guests: archery, climbing wall, zip line, boating, crafts, hiking.
Aside: when my son got married, neither the brideās father nor I are much of a dancer so I suggested to them we should all dance to āYour Mama donāt dance and your Daddy donāt rockān roll.ā It was met with a laugh then a firm NO.
@soozievt some lovely choices! I have 2 long dresses in my closet purchased for my nieceās wedding - saw a 2nd one I liked better, and I like to have āchoiceā for what I am in the mood to wear. Seems she is not inviting H and me now (sad family breakdown). But I have them for the next occasion.
My kids didnāt have any formal dancing pairs. They also skipped the cake. The 3 gals in the wedding party wore green dresses of their choosing, the men various shades of grey. My son gave them matching ties. It was in a brewery.
Dentmom, that wedding with camp activities sounds great!!! I wish I was invited.
