2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@Skepta Even if you got a C in that non-transferrable math class in winter, I doubt they will look at it. Btw, if you’re taking calculus then I suggest that you polish up on that trig skill. Regular calculus assumes you have master trigonometry and can use it with ease. I am taking multi-variable calculus right now and struggling a bit because I have forgotten some basic trig stuff like trig identities and etc. that are used in some arithmetics when solving calculus problems.

@pomeranian4rich haha thats exactly what im doing rn during my spring break, also not to blame the proff but he made the tests extremely difficult, i knew it was bs cuz i had gotten As in trig at my hs. but yea reviewing just in case.

I don’t really get the importance of taking a calc class for the business school, I think it’s probably just because USC is an elite school. Then again they do let you take bus calc, but that’s such a small portion of it… a lot of schools don’t require any sort of calc be taken prior to upper level business courses. I guess they probably also use it as a measuring stick, since those who can’t handle calc might not be able to handle the rigor of Marshall… idk, just thinking out loud lol

Anyone here a business applicant but also interested in programming and web design? I’m not into CSCI enough to major in it or make a career of it, but I love the startup culture and I’ll be looking for those types of jobs after graduation… gonna spend some time over the summer trying to learn to code

@penntousc I guess having strong analytical skill is crucial for business, and yes I agree that doing well in calc is used as a measuring stick when they are comparing applicants. My friend told me that calculus is used extensively, basic derivatives and integration, for business micro/marco econ, and that class is considered really difficult with an average test score of 70%.

I wouldn’t consider USC as an elite school like the Ivy Leagues lol but it is definitely on par with top schools like ucla and ucb.

@pomeranian4rich well that’s a little discouraging, but at least I was good with derivatives and integration in calc. I’m not going to kill myself trying to get A’s in everything once (if) I get to USC… at a school that rigorous, sh*t happens, and you can’t win em all lol

@pomeranian4rich oh and yeah most certainly not on Ivy League level but in terms of schools that have a realistic level of accessibility, USC is near the top

A lot of UC’s require Calc 1/2 for their Econ/Accounting/Business majors. I believe Calc is a nice basic benchmark for arithmetic.

Do you guys have any idea when USC starts sending out acceptance / rejections letters? I just looked at the last year thread, and I found out that people were already getting accepted at the beginning of April last year. So I guess the time came…Is anybody already accepted from this thread?

Hey everyone! This is my first post but I’ve been following this thread for so long, and I just wanted to share with you guys that I received my acceptance package about 5 days ago! I was really shocked because a week before I received my package they requested a SGR from me… So for those who have a received a SGR there still may be a chance you will hear back even before you send them in! Good luck to all of you guys!

@tommythetrojan18 were you on TTP and were you sophomore applicant or junior? also CONGRATS!!

@tommythetrojan18 That’s awesome! Congrats! Were you a TTP and what is your major?

@Skepta @SportsNerd24 thanks! Yeah, I was on the TTP plan and I’m a sophomore applicant. I got into Marshall for Business Admin with a emphasis on accounting. But my friend who is not on the TTP got her packet the same day I did as well and she’s a junior applicant…

@tommythetrojan18 is she Marshall?

Hi. I was a transfer student last year and lived in the Lorenzo this year. For those that are admitted and don’t have student housing or don’t want to live in the dorm, I have a lease that I need someone to take over from May 2016- July 2017. Lorenzo is a great place for students at USC because it is within walking distance and there is a shuttle every 15 min. Please message me for inquiry. The rent is $969 and comes with free parking, completely furnished, and utility is included. Since I need someone to take over ASAP, I am offering to pay for first month rent.

@tommythetrojan18 please post your decision here and please tell your friend to post her stats here too: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1978775-usc-fall-2017-transfer-students-stats-decisions-only-p1.html?new=1

This wait is killing me haha

Question. I did AR on two bad grades I received in my past. THE GAG IS I was an idiot and failed these classes three times each. So I took these two classes three different times, failed all three. Which is why I AR’d. Will each F I received be counted in the gpa, or will they only count one? So for ex, failed Fall 2014, Winter 2015, and Spring 2015. Will that be the same impact as three F’s in my gpa calculation or one? Sorry if I’m being unclear, any input would be appreciated. Both the classes are GE’s, but I took different GE’s in their category’s for A’s if that helps.I’m planning on applying for the 2018-2019 cycle btw.

@wallyw3st I don’t think USC accepts academic renewal… if I had to guess, they would count all 3 F’s

@penntousc yeah I know they don’t accept it that sucks for me. My cum is a 3.6 with AR and everything. Without it it’s probably in the 2’s if they’re going to count all three fails  I was hoping they wouldn’t.
