2017 Lehigh RD Applicants' Discussion Thread

I’m in California, but I didn’t get anything except a FA postcard that I received yesterday.

@collegedreamer95
Congrats!

@ Lehighhopeful
Hopefully maybe tomorrow! Is Lehigh your first choice? (I assume yes…?)

@Leilala
haha same here xD

Son got invite to weekend today. NYC.

Just wanted to reassure those who did not get a diversity weekend invite that it absolutely does not mean you will not get in! A small number of accepted students get the invite, usually due to some kind of talent, background etc. making for a diverse mix of experiences. Sometimes coming from an area of the county not heavily represented, a race not heavily represented, a special talent or experince.

My son was not invited and was accepted RD a few years ago with a merit
Scholarship and honors program. Do not worry if you didn’t get an invite.

Does anyone know when most results come out?
Their website says late March but does that imply next week or somewhere near the last day of March?

@sleepypanda I live 15 minutes away from Lehigh (the next city over).

@Donald203 I would expect the results to come out the last week of March.

“Each year, Lehigh invites hundreds of admitted students to Diversity Life Weekend. The event is meant to give students a sense of life at Lehigh as well as to celebrate and embrace students of diverse backgrounds.” This is what it says on the website; basically you stay at Lehigh for a weekend to meet other admitted students and current students. They have stuff planned that weekend for those that are going, but it doesn’t really specify what.

Yes! I think @higuise and @mumof2boyz explain very well. I am Asian and I got this invitation, and to be honest, I don’t have perfect or great stats, and I don’t think I have anything very special… The reason they send out invitations to part of admitted students is to fit this DIVERSITY event… So there is nothing to worry about if you don’t get the invitation.

Didn’t get a diversity weekend invite even though I’m an Asian. I did get a financial aid postcard which not everyone got, so hopefully that is a good sign

@futuredoctor24

Same here! What major did you apply as?

To those who are invited to the diversity weekend program, did you all get the FA postcard?

@ Leilala and Sleepypanda, i hope they respond with yes regarding the postcard.

I applied as a bio major, but I might do molecular biology

did all of you do interviews?

I got the FA postcard, even though I had all of my FA stuff by the time they sent it, but I did not do an interview.

I did an interview last semester. (but it didn’t go so well so now I’m worried it will hurt me…)

@sleepypanda umm kind of. If I got accepted to duke Id go in a heartbeat but my stats are far below what they usually accept but lehigh is a close second so Im seriously hoping I get accepted!

I live in NJ and I received my acceptance letter yesterday! Very pumped. To clear up some confusion on the timing of these letters, it says “We are sending this letter to you in advance of other candidates, in order to invite you to visit Lehigh University during Diversity Life Weekend.” So don’t fret if you haven’t received a letter yet. Also, I applied for bioengineering and did not do an interview.

Also a question, I haven’t uploaded the Lehigh FA Supplements yet. I plan to today, I just wanted reassurance if it will still be accepted and if I will still receive a financial aid offer?

Thanks guys and goodluck

amipat did you receive an FA postcard? They will still probably make you an offer, but it won’t be that nice because you missed the deadlines by a lot.

I also did not do an interview, but I met with my admissions counselor when he dropped by at my school and I visited Lehigh. When I visited Lehigh, I did an information session and a tour, so they advised me that the interview was useless because I did my high school session.

futuredoctor24

thanks for your reply. Are you sure about the limited financial aid offer or are you just assuming. Cause if that’s true, my mood is really dampened cause I can only attend Lehigh if I get sufficient money in FA and scholarship. :(

Hey everyone-

Just jumping in with a question. I didn’t get a financial aid postcard (and won’t add much diversity to Lehigh :p) but they sent me an actual letter requesting my FA stuff. I don’t have tax info yet, so I only gave in my CSS and FAFSA. What does it mean if I got this letter? It seemed pretty fancy, letterhead, you know the deal. Thanks!

I would take it as a good sign! They usually would not go out of their way to ask you financial aid documents from my guess.

@amnipat, I’m just assuming my friend. Best thing to do is contact your financial aid counselor. It is on their website and to determine which one is yours, find the one with the prospective student last name that works with yours. I have no relation with Lehigh, and I’m just a prospective student wishing to get in.
