2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

Does anyone’s CSS profile show that USC will release Financial Aid awards on 6/1?

Where are you seeing this? My portal says fa for transfers will be released in May

@csumit On my College Board CSS Profile, it says my “Award Letter Date” is 6/1/2018.

@uscorbust1880 I have nothing bad to say about Chapman at all and like you would be happy to stay at Chapman, but want to transfer because USC has been my dream school as well. I’m just saying that to me the “real” college experience is to have big game days, a greek row, school pride, etc.

@CADREAMIN any idea when TTP applicants may start receiving decisions or SGR’s?

@uscorbust1880 Since you have only 21 units completed, your high school records will be considered so since you said your HS GPA wasn’t great, that could be something of concern (I’m not too familiar with how they review transfers for sophomore year, so don’t quote me on that). However, other than that, I’d say you’re on the right track! Your college GPA is pretty good and you’ve completed most of what needs to be completed!

I don’t know how competitive Econ is at USC (though everything is competitive at USC nowadays, at least you’re not a comm major like me or SCA major), so I can’t tell you exactly how your GPA stands compared to Econ admits (I’m sure you can probably find some stats on other threads or maybe someone else on here knows).

As a TTP applicant, I know they really emphasized GPA at our meeting, so I think having only one extracurricular activity won’t be the end of the world (considering it’s also a time consuming sport)!

Overall, I think you have a fair shot! I’m sorry if it didn’t feel like a lot of info, but I hope this somewhat helped!

@prayformeforsc
Based on the previous year’s USC Transfer thread, it seems like the earliest decision was towards the end of March, however, as we have probably all seen on the portal page, it said,“we will be reviewing applications through the month of May, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify transfers by June 1st,” assuming this is true, and based on majority of decisions for transfers from the following year, I wouldn’t expect a response until late May to June (and even July!). I know the anticipation of a response is killing me too!!!
I hope that answers it for you!

Tbh I’d be surprised, if the majority hasn’t heard back by mid/late may.

TTP folks should be receiving it anytime. I know they are pushing the financial aid results out earlier that usual this year by a few days (it started today) so I can’t help but wonder if they didn’t push TTP notification till after FA was almost all out. Although separate departments, remember they aren’t IBM and a staff of hundreds, it is a small group of people doing everything so they are likely swamped with calls re aid.

In 2015, some got it with the regular decision folks and last year it was this time (end of March) so I would say any day now, but I know it makes people so anxious! I sure hope it is the end of this week rather than next. Wish I could make them arrive more quickly - the wait is awful! TTP applicants should be great so try to relax, you should have less stress on you than anyway, but I get it, till package is in hand…there is no relaxing.

@uscorbust1880 Your HS grades and ACT won’t be looked at since they only do that if you have less than 30 semester units by the time you finish your spring semester. So dw about HS stuff.

@CADREAMIN do all ttp applicants (that don’t get an sgr) receive their decision at the same time or are they staggered?

I know it’s a little late for this but I’m currently applying from a UC to USC as a sophomore CS transfer applicant and I’ve also been offered the Trojan Transfer Plan (TTP) by USC. I know that the TTP increases my chances of being admitted, however, I know it doesn’t guarantee it. I noticed a common trend of people saying that if you maintain a GPA of 3.7 and take certain classes you are basically guaranteed admission. Unfortunately, last quarter I received a 3.5 and this quarter I received a 3.27 which leaves me with a cumulative of 3.37. But it is important to note that I got straight A’s in all my CS classes which is directly related to what I’m applying for at USC. I wrote a stellar essay and have had good extracurriculars, however, I feel this dip in my GPA will significantly lower my chances of being admitted, even with TTP. In high school, I had a GPA of 3.6 with an SAT of 1990 and I took and passed 6 APs.

  1. I honestly just really want to know what to expect when admission decisions roll around because I have some hope knowing that the TTP improves my chances of getting in but I’m concerned that my GPA is too low.

  2. Would my admission decision come out before a winter quarter grade request? I know I shouldn’t send in my winter quarter grades (for obvious reasons), but if I get a winter grade request I think I will be rejected. Also, because my winter quarter GPA is so low, would they wait for my spring quarter grades to come out before giving me an admission decision?

Any advice on this is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

OMG!!! MY ROOMMATE WOKE ME UP BECAUSE USPS LEFT MY PACKAGE TODAY MORNING. I am not a TTP student. Good luck everyone!!! They send out early this year.

@prostrans55 CONGRATS!! Wasn’t expecting anything so early. You must’ve been so surprised HAHA :)) Do you mind sharing your stats?

@NotLonelyIsland I am an international student majoring sociology from ccc.
Took 62 units completed and taking 19 units this semester. I have 3.92 gpa.
I played football, swimming. My common app essay is not that great.
I think USC only focuses on gpa. Good luck to you! btw my portal doesn’t change yet!

@NotLonelyIsland Also, I took all my writing, math, science classes before summer 2017!

@prostrans55 Congrats! Do you have a document in your portal document library entitled “appeal your admissions decision”? If not, I probably got rejected.

Accepted - I’M NOT ON TTP

@KG5APR OMG I had that on earlier this week, so I thought I got rejected too. I submitted my appeal letter this monday. I don’t think it actually matters. I heard it will be gone soon.

@prostrans55 Congrats!!! Did your portal change at all or did the package come in first?
