@danceon @elleerain I’ve created a facebook page for USC transfers 2021/a roommate search because the current USC transfer page is dead.
Facebook Group: USC Class of 2021 Transfer/Roommate Search
@aznboi4981 Definitely the best decision not to put yourself in that kind of debt. It’s a shame that it’s not a viable option for me, I have a few good friends there, but it is what it is. I really hope we all get in! I’m so anxious to hear back. Have you applied to other schools outside USC?
@transfer9692 I have friends at MDC also, but a lot of them have got their AA and left already. Sounds like we are in pretty similar situations, I get paid at Broward, and financially, it’s been paradise for me. My classes vary, some of them are pretty easy, but the farther I go along they harder they’ve gotten. I’m still doing great work though. Really hoping both of us and aznboi get into USC, and I really do hope we hear back by the end of this week.

For those admitted-- are you unable to submit the enrollment deposit? When I hit “Enrollment Commitment Deposit” on my portal I’m directed to an error page saying “This site is not open to public access”. Perhaps it’s because my portal was freshly updated today, but I’m trying to sign up for orientation ASAP. Any luck?
Portal will straighten out if it was just update, might not be till tomorrow. There is no rush to sign up for orientation - I don’t think that is even open yet. Even so, there is not a mad rush to get into most things at USC. No worries, plenty of spots. People want to come at different times, it takes awhile for any single orientation to fill up. At least it is not immediately.
Hello I got rejected applying for Interactive Media as a freshman this year. So I have to go to George Mason for my freshman year. I plan on transferring to USC so that I can start my sophomore year there. If I am transferring into USC as a sophomore in Interactive Media, what classes should I prioritize for my first semester at Mason? Should they be the general ed requirements (listed in the booklet, I only have to do four plus the foreign language) or degree specific courses (ones for game design)?
@StipendAwarded I don’t think that this thread is the right place to ask that. I’d recommend opening your own thread.
@Vincent1997 Aren’t I a future/prospective transfer student? Would my thread go on the 2019/2020 transfer thread for USC whenever it opens?
@StipendAwarded This thread is mainly for those, who are applying for this Fall. The reason why I pointed that out is because this thread receives a lot of posts and it’s hard to keep an overview. This is especially true, if there are conversations going on that are not related to this years transfer. I didn’t mean to come of as rude. I’d answer your question if I could, but I am applying to a different college. As a general rule of thumb, make sure to finish any prerequisites for your major. Once those are complete, you can start working on the 8 GE classes, although you should make sure to take no more than 6/8.
@StipendAwarded Focus mainly on GEs, and any pre-major requisites (I don’t think Interactive Media has a foreign language requirement) that you might have. Definitely reach out to your admissions counselor!
Anyone apply to nyu and usc too? I got in for NYU and currently go to school in the city but, I’m from LA and would love to return and attend USC if possible ;___;
@quietquiet How many classes can I take per semester as a freshman? Also, Interactive Media does have a requirement for a foreign language, according to the Transferring to USC booklet. Does that foreign language have to be the one you took during high school or can it be a new one (I took Latin in high school, but I might want to do a Japanese class-more on it later). Otherwise, thank you for telling.
Also, any pre reqs for Interactive Media? What would they be exactly?
is someone going to make a stats thread? for 2018-2019?
@Kvadhan789 I think someone did. It’s a few posts back
@CADREAMIN Have you noticed any trends in the past for which applicants tend to get their decisions first, or is it seemingly randomized?
@StipendAwarded I don’t know the specific prerequisites for your major, but you could most definitely find them on USC’s website! For the foreign language requirement, you can take a placement exam at USC and pass out of a level III language course, pass a level III language course at USC, or score a 4/5 on an AP language exam (or an equivalent score on IB). If you took two years of high school taught in a foreign language, that works too.
As for how many classes you can take per semester as a freshman, pretty much however many you want. I’d try to stay above 14 units though, since USC likes to see ≥30 transferable credits by the time you’re admitted.
@StipendAwarded It doesn’t necessarily matter the order in which you take the courses, but I’d definitely recommend getting the writing and math requirements out of the way first, and starting your foreign language requirement (if any) ASAP. For your major pre-reqs (if any), get those done latest by the end of the semester before your last semester (Ex. I started doing apps Fall 2017, and Spring 2018 is my last semester. So, what I’m trying to say is, in this case, have your pre-reqs done by the end of Fall 2017. That way, USC has a letter grade they can review for that class).
The booklet should tell you what the pre-reqs are, if any, and what course qualify the foreign language requirement. I would also recommend looking into the articulation agreement, if your school has one.
@quietquiet same ordeal here. My portal now says things like “FAST” and “admission status” but when I click on the links, the same message pops up from previously. I think the system is just still updating!
@giakhanhngo123 “By the time you’re admitted” does that mean by Feb 1 (due date for transfer app) or May 31 (when they send the result)? I have been going over and over the USC site since I got rejected. Also, I do have the transfer guide on my iPad as a ebook.
Also, for the foreign language, by third level, do they mean a 300+ course. Could a freshman conceivably take it?
Also, by the time I am done with high school, I will have done AP World, US, Gov, Calc AB, Physics 1, Eng Lang, and Eng Lit.
@quietquiet The transfer booklet says a “third level” foreign language. Does that mean 300 or above? In high school, I did Latin 1, 2, and 4 (was allowed to skip a level). Can it also be a language different from what you did in high school?
