2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

@giakhanhngo123 @AwkwardNewYorker My current institution did not request 'em. I don’t know, it could just be a Tulane thing. Thanks!

EDIT: Upon further research, I believe Tulane does require this of all students.

@AwkwardNewYorker I also applied to W&L, except I applied as a freshman. What a small world! I ended up not going because of how small and secluded the town is, but it’s a pretty reputable school especially for law

do you guys know if it’s worth sending in an extra letter of rec from my comm professor (major i applied for at USC) as well) that wasn’t in my common app? if so, how do i do that?

@CADREAMIN Do you have any insight regarding @hopefultiffany 's post? (#942)

I am seeing a new thing on my portal on the messages tab (but it is not a message). It says “submit your mid-year grades here”

Has that been there this entire time and I’m just seeing it or is that new?

@gearsekandou hello fellow comm major!!

To answer your question, I’m not entirely sure it would make a huge difference! But hey, it doesn’t hurt to send it (assuming you haven’t already sent in 3 letters of rec)

When I was applying as a freshman, they told me to have the recommender send the letter (either postal or via email) to admissions with your USC ID number attached somewhere.

I would contact admissions/Annenberg just to double check though!

So nobody on CC has heard back from Viterbi yet? Even TTP applicants?

Technically, transfers are supposed to hear by June 1st, so conveniently he said May 31st, that is the canned answer they are told to say on the phone or in the center. TTPs with strong first semester gpa’s that don’t need SGRs should mostly be hearing in the next week or two, and regular transfers should get a wave around April 20 something. But unfortunately, a lot don’t hear until May. It is a painful process. I always think of @zettasyntax that didn’t hear till June 6th and if you look at last year’s thread, several got decisions in July! What was up with that? ugh.

Here is last year’s thread if you want to look at something other than USPS:

http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1903737-2017-2018-usc-transfer-p182.html

And a STAT thread:

@giakhanhngo123 Thanks! I’ll double check. Also, do you think having a board member of Marshall writing me an “other” recommender rec will be useful/have some effect?

Could I join the TTP? Or is it only for legacy or community college students? Can anyone join?

Also, how would an appeal work?

@StipendAwarded You have to be invited to TTP by USC Admissions.

@OmaNebr How do I get invited? What qualifications? How long would be the process?

@StipendAwarded You get invited in your rejection letter as a freshman. There are no specific qualifications. Sometimes your legacy, and other times your a candidate that is very qualified there’s just not enough room to accept everyone.

@danceon I probably didn’t get that in my letter, but, I will check. Could a failed appeal result in admission to the TTP? If I don’t get into the TTP, how hard would it be to transfer in, especially as a sophomore?

Also, any opportunities for college freshmen in general to intern?

@CATransfer17 so this has been a big question for me too. I heard from a video conference that the admissions people held saying that housing is first come first served. I also went to talk to an admission staff at USC yesterday and asked about the housing and he didn’t really know the specifics but he said that transfers usually hear back at the same time so we aren’t competing with other transfers and for on campus there is a lottery? (which isn’t very correct so makes me wonder if he knows what he’s talking about).

So then I went to the housing department and They told me that there are certain on campus housing that is available for undergraduate students, but freshman applicants already have their housing so I’m assuming not much left for us transfers. She basically said accept USCs offer and then you will find out what’s available.

@Arabergro I don’t think so. I talked to the Viterbi admissions department and he said they just started looking at applications.

@markspencer22 I applied as a composition major. USC isn’t my first choice, but I’d still like to know if I got in haha. Nothing yet. I’m in so. AZ

I currently have countdown app set to May 31st, just 57 days left!

USC is actually playing with my feelings LOL. I have the button “enrollment commitment deposit” and my Fin Aid summary just updated yesterday. If I click the enrollment commitment deposit link, I get an error. :frowning: I called admission’s office and he couldn’t tell me over the phone if I was admitted or not. He said I would have to check the mail, but I did not receive anything yet. However, he did tell me that if I see those things just “think about it”. LOL
