2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

@thedailyjav I have a countdown set like you-to May 31, 2019. :frowning:

As I checked my USC FAST this morning, I noticed the “Application Started” section went from completed to action required. It is quite unusual as I do not have any documents in which are required by me. Has anyone had experience with this? Is this a positive sign or just a glitch?

Thanks in advance!

@sabpardo Below that… click on the actual link that says Required Info & Forms and then see if something is missing or not.

It could be a glitch… my daughter’s says the same – although nothing is actually missing.

@danceon I re read my rejection email. They did not say anything about TTP. Also, although it says that they would prefer a transfer from a community college, how would a transfer from a college like the GMU Honors College weigh in their eyes?

@WWWard Hmm, I do not have anything required within that section either.

If you click on the section, do two “Initial Documentation” sections appear? I have one “Completed” and one “Action Required” present.

@SabPardo

Yes… exactly. And my daughter is a current student. So it is likely just a glitch with their website.

@WWWard Thank you!

The you.usc portal says it will be down for “system maintenance” on April 8th… could this be it?

@SabPardo you’re welcome

Does the appeal letter have to be typed?

@StipendAwarded It is a lot more difficult to transfer as a sophomore than a junior, but it is definitely possible. If your not on TTP it will probably be easier to transfer from a CC than a university because CC are direct “feeder” schools into universities. However, I do not think you should turn down a university to go to a CC to potentially get into USC. You may love the university you choose to go to!

@danceon I chose GMU as a backup because it was the only college near where I live that had game design. They did put me in their Honors College (which takes the top 5% of students) and their game program, which I will accept (the rejection letter said to do something like that given the timing for appeal results). I might do a CC during this summer. Given my AP record, I have done World History, US History, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Government, Calculus AB, Physics 1 (the last four during senior year). On the transfer requirements, that leaves me with the Arts, Life Sciences, Social Analysis (both courses), and Citizenship. I also would have to do the foreign language (my highest is Latin 4) and maybe the lower division writing (GMU’s equivalent to USC 130 cannot be taken by freshmen). That leaves me with whatever courses for Interactive Media.

@StipendAwarded You seem to be in a great position, but there’s never a guarantee. I wish the best to you!

@StipendAwarded I would suggest reaching out to the admissions councilor for your college’s region. No one on here is going to be able to give you 100% accurate advice regarding transferring courses, etc.

Maybe…

@thedailyjav I saw that too. I’ve already decided it’s code for they need to upload some acceptance letters/financial aid information into the portal and that’s about how long it takes. Which means a good chunk of people may hear on Sunday or Monday.

Guess who will be checking the portal during “system maintenance” on Sunday to see if any accidental glitches happen that reveal something about my decision???

@goodBrujo9 Not sure how you’re inferring that, websites go down for maintenance all the time

I thought this was a fantastic and frank post about TTP students over in London so I am reposting it here so you other transfers can fold these students into your community. They too are waiting on news of acceptance!

hey everyone i’m genuinely curious. Whats the lowest GPA you’ve known that has gotten into usc as a Transfer.
