@Anco17 That’s a cool link! I thought the tour guides were lying when they said no major/school is harder to transfer into than any other, but if Viterbi themselves confirm it, I guess it is true
What are my chances?
3.73 current gpa at east los angeles college. Started off with a couple b’s and two w’s within my first two semesters but have been full time for the last two years getting all a’s except for a B in spanish last semester. Applied as a bio major ,pre-med, dornsife. B’s are mainly in GE classes but have gotten all A’s in my major prep classes. Last semester recieved president’s honor award.
Two letters of rec, one from bio prof who is a USC alumni and one from my counselor who knows me very well personally.
Work experience includes tutoring at my school’s learning center and being a corpsman(medic) in the navy. I have leadership experience through the military.
I have been volunteer at USC county hospital for the past two years in the emergency room. Also part of the veterans honor society at my school.
In my personal statement I wrote about sepcific programs at USC that I would like to be a part of like research at childrens hospital la.
I was wondering if anyone knows how the admissions committee views veterans. I was told by my counselor that USC has been viewing veterans favorably in the past couple years but I could not find any stats or specific info on this on the internet.
Thanks guys.
@Anco17 Yep! Hope we hear something too. Viterbis really leaving us in the dark
@CADREAMIN I do not think asking a specific question about course articulation is something that could be answered online… It’s not meant to be desperate; I just do not know who to ask since my advisor was not much help. But thank you for your input.
@phunphunphun Thank you for your service! Yes, they do look at veterans favorably, but as a private university they are not forthcoming with a lot of stats that may be available at public schools. I think your bio looks fantastic, but of course, they are holistic, so anyone’s opinion other than USC Admissions means very little. I hope you get great news!
Just received my SGR!! I’m a non TTP transfer & I applied to Marshall as my first choice major! Was expecting an SGR because I’m currently taking Calc which is a requirement for Marshall. Happy to have gotten it and not a rejection!!
@erinapage Glad you’re happy! Was it sent via USPS or portal or…?
@aznboi4981 USPS
Does anyone have any idea when we will hear back from Viterbi? The suspense is killing me.
Also, does anyone know of many common off campus living areas?
Thanks.
@erinapage congrats!! But ahhhh, does this mean they are starting to look at Marshall applicants?!!
My instincts are telling me early this week I am going to get a denial letter in the mail. I feel like the math requirement will be the reason why.
Anyone heard back from dornsife?
@sandyusc The Lorenzo.
As a non-TTP Viterbi Junior transfer from a UC school, I guess we have to wait until late May which is quite suffering
I think I saw the answer to this question on this thread but I can’t find it, when do marshall applicants hear back based on previous years? I applied to marshall, can not wait to hear back
@phunphunphun I was admitted to Dornsife for psychology last week! I’m TTP though FYI
I got a SGR on March 30th, and assuming I send in my spring grades at like the end of May, when would I hear my final decision? The portal said mid-July but their dates seem to be pushed really far back to act as “at the absolute latest” dates. I feel like hearing in mid-July is hard for housing. When do transfer applicants usually hear back once they send in spring grades?
What school were you applying from? @erinapage
@StipendAwarded Opening it with “Dear University of Southern California Undergraduate Admissions Committee” and try to tug at their heartstrings and make them feel compassion may help
I’ll respond to this just to clear up any questions.
Rejected
TTP or no TTP: Not TTP/ Did not apply to USC senior year
School or major you applied to: Keck, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
Portal update or mail notification: Mail notification, dated April 4 (was mailed to my California home address); received April 6. I have no update on my portal as of tonight.
At this time, I have no idea why I was rejected. I had completed the math and english courses; the only thing that I didn’t have was Bio which is being completed right now. I had completed Intro to Public Health and Intro to Health Promotion with A’s so I would have expected a SGR instead of a denial; I had no letter of Rec so it’s not like that could have affected it. And for the person who said I may have missed application requirements, every single requirement is there. I sent my high school transcript, my college transcript (both my concurrent enrollment in high school college and my current college) along with my ACT scores. There was nothing more I could do requirement wise.
Honestly, it’s kind of disappointing and I have no idea what I’ll do college transfer wise; I do not think my current college (American U) is good for public health (or similar majors) so I have to decide soon whether to take a gap period to apply to another school. I’ll likely appeal this decision after my final grades come in. But for now, I’m going to leave CC alone and focus on the last few weeks of the semester.
Best of luck to all of you.
