Did Annenberg majors get an email with the subject “Welcome to the Annenberg Family: Check Out The First Annen-blog!” ?
@giakhanhngo123 ah no :(! Not gonna get my hopes up though because they will crumble LOL
@smc2usc right right, lots of people (particularly TTP applicants) get accepted with prereqs in progress. the main point is that having prereqs in progress won’t get you rejected immediately.
I’m at SMC right now too :)>- what year are you?
@rgehr123 Even though I plan to transfer into Interactive Media, should I take a computer science class at GMU or during the summer before?
anyone else have major classes from their current school they’re concerned wont transfer over. I know at worst you can make the case of it being slid in as an elective. I was wondering how that may have an affect on transferring in such as having classes that are like “design blah blah” over GE/simple courses like “intro to theo”. As long as the prereq’s are done like math and writing I should be good right?
IIRC my USC counselor said that as long as I hit my Math and English requirements it was okay to follow random GE courses that qualified for transfer credit (I got a list of courses at my school that were equivalent to USC GE courses). I got my Math done semester 1 and I’m in the middle of my English requirement. Got a SGR a few weeks ago.
Applied to Marshall. Haven’t heard back yet.
@angeleno13 You should be fine as long as you have your pre-reqs done! For me, I know my major courses get me elective credit, but that’s about it. It doesn’t harm you to have major courses, but it doesn’t give you an advantage or make you more competitive (at least that’s what my TTP counselor told me for Annenberg)
@anna717 what major did you apply as? There are usually a lot of kids from Saddleback that get into USC, and I have not seen many people applying under Price, which makes me feel confident. Good luck to you!
Yeah, the thing is, I do not know if the math course I took meets MATH 118 in their eyes. I attached a letter and the course syllabus, so I am hopeful they will see all of USC’s MATH 118 was covered (and then some - probability stuff).
Does it help that my school’s business school is also AACSB accredited? I feel like that may help lol
@durtysouth This is my 3rd semester at SMC so I’m applying as a sophomore:) And yourself?
And I did not even touch upon the writing prerequisite in my letter to admissions. I just figured I met the req. I got a 4 on the AP Lit exam. Plus, I was exempt from two reading and writing courses at my school (because of my AP score). I am now taking a Readings in the Humanities course (gen-ed for all students) this semester.
Now that I am thinking, I should have also mentioned this in my letter attachment to admissions. 8-| I just thought it seemed pretty self-explanatory, but the more I think, the more I think not.
@jobsoutofcollege @anna717 You guys are soooo close to me haha I go to OCC :-*
@jobsoutofcollege oh really? I haven’t met a lot of people at saddleback that applied to USC this year. I am applying for Marshall.
@Vincent1997 oh wow! you are so close!
@Vincent1997 oh wow, you’re super close to me! I go to Santa Ana College!
@rgehr123 For the CWS, how could I make a fully developed project that impresses them within the span of those ten minutes?
I am just worried that my CWS, however great it may be, might not be enough compared to some other’s CWS. I might as well make mine a senior project level great?
Also, would a highly breathtaking portfolio site help give me an edge over those others? How much time would they pay attention to the portfolio site? Would group projects, regardless of role, elicit any unique response?
Sorry if I am asking any redundant statements, but I am worried about transfer competition.
has anyone seen in the previous threads at least applicable to juniors of people being denied for first and second choice major and accepted anyways?
@angeleno13 I doubt they’d accept juniors as undecided. Probably only sophomores. On the Common app it says "All transfer applicants applying for junior standing should indicate a specific USC major on the application. You should not apply as Open (Undecided).
Students who are applying to enter at less than junior standing should choose a specific academic major for their first-choice but may apply as Open (Undecided) as a second-choice major."
Anyone out there from college of the canyons applying to USC this Fall?
