2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

@ashurikko yes there is a green check next to “Program of Study” and says under it “Your Program of Study eligibility has been confirmed.”

@collegerose yes the USC financial aid office emailed me

@aznboi4981 Marshall!

@joeyfreshwater I’m going to a csu and had a 3.6 last semester and hopefully a 3.7 at the end of this semster. Does going to a csu affect my chances negatively?

@marmalo do you think there is a good chance i can attend UCSD for one year and then transfer to USC? does the school you attend for freshman year matter a lot? will going to ucsd give me an advantage over a community college when transferring to usc?

@fighton5811 Also, did you submit signed copies of your parents’ tax returns and W2s?

@aznboi4981 I’m not sure if they were signed copies, but I submitted all that was required. So yes the tax returns and W2s

@SmartJarhead

Is USC your top-choice?

@ShaneSmith I’m glad you decided to join the madness

@SabPardo I applied to some far reaches lol, but realistically USC is my number 1 pick

Here’s my stats (bear in mind, I am a high school senior attending the GMU Honors College for freshman year since I got rejected for Interactive Media):

GPA: 4:207
SAT Composite: 1490
ACT: 33
AP Tests: World History, US History, Government, English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Calculus AB, Physics 1.
Major related classes: Programming, Advanced Programming.

Applying for Interactive Media next year as a sophomore transfer, how good would be my chances? (Later on next year, might update with college freshman grades and classes)

when do marshall non-TTP applicants start to hear back?

@Sbp325 it is definitely possible. It doesn’t negatively affect you, at least not on a greater scale. USC is a private so it’s fair game for everyone. However, if they had to choose between you and a CC applicant, who has the exact same stats, extracurriculars, etc. as you, they’d probably pick the CC applicant because unlike you, they don’t have a place to go while you are already at a 4-year. Other than small situations like that though, your chances are fairly equaled compared to everyone else. The transfer process itself might be more difficult since California CCs have direct articulation agreements with USC, so you would know exactly what courses fulfill requirements and whatnot, while I’m not so sure there are any with the UCs (correct me if I’m wrong). On top of that, your chances of getting better grades are much higher at a CC. If you are looking for that “college experience” and can see yourself enjoying UCSD, go for it. However, if USC is the dream and you don’t really care for UCSD, I personally would say save your money and go to a CC.

Sorry that was a lot, but how that was helpful!

@SmartJarhead I’m sure everything will work out for the best. @ShaneSmith is also a fellow Lancer haha

@Anco17 Thanks for the info! The anticipation is mind boggling. I would check my mailbox five times a day hoping for the package.

@SabPardo @ShaneSmith Right on! I hope we all get in. Is @ShaneSmith the same major as you?

@SmartJarhead Yes! He has the same second-choice major as well. Hopefully we all see each other in the Fall!

@SabPardo That would be awesome! I don’t know anyone there so it would be nice to go through the transfer experience together. Are you guys planning on living on campus?

@clan123 I’m in the waiting game with you. Marshall non-TTP applicant, I’m on the East coast, how about you?

@blankscreen I wish you luck through the fall semester. I would be transferring from a CC in Vegas.
