I applied to Annenberg Comm last year and PR as my 2nd major and I was rejected. I had really good stats, 4.0 GPA, and great EC’s and I was rejected. The acceptance rate must’ve been really low or it’s super competitive. If any Annenberg applicants have any questions, feel free to ask. Good luck to you all!
@sunnydramatic ahhh wow. i applied pr as my first and journalism as my second. i have a 3.84 and i work for my student newspaper at college and a local newspaper for the city, so i have some related ECs. i’m also a pr major at my current 4-year private university. do you think that helps at all?
@laneline I applied for Comm! Applied last year and was rejected. Applying again hoping that things turn around.
@giakhanhngo123 wow! i didn’t get that email. tbh that seems like a good sign for you lol
@laneline I think you have a pretty good chance of being accepted! How were your supplemental essays? I think mine could have been better, which is what could have affected my admission decision last year. I think I saw on a past thread that the essays for Annenberg have a pretty big impact on the admission decision. As long as that’s good, then I think you’ll be fine.
@sunnydramatic I think they were pretty good, I had a lot of people look at them so I got lots of feedback and edited them accordingly. However, they could always be better lol you just never know. I’ve barely seen any PR majors on the threads which is why I was getting a little worried. Best of luck to you!!
@giakhanhngo123 I applied for Annenberg and got that email that email too! Lets hope its a good sign!
@aznboi4981 Fall18transfers For the transfer applicants who will be entering USC in the fall of 2018, or those who will applying during that time?
@giakhanhngo123 How harder is it for non TTP?
In regard to Annenberg. I applied last year as a sophomore for Comm, and 2nd choice PR. Rejected. My admission counselor told me she liked my application but since I put Annenberg as my first and second choice major, she ultimately had no choice but to reject because Annenberg is so competitive. If I had put a different school she could have submitted my application to them. So this time I put Annenberg as my first and Politcial Science as my second choice.
Also, I always read about people getting their essays looked over. That’s always baffled me because there is grammar software available for technical mistakes. However no one knows you better than you. To those who had someone look over their essays, if you are rejected will you be pissed for taking someone else’s advice regarding your writing? If I get rejected (again lol) I want to know it fell all on me.
Does anyone know if being a legacy student non-TTP helps at all?
@laneline my daughter has applied as annenberg comm major. Sociology 2nd choice. Non-TTP. Left high school at the end of 10th grade with 3.85 gpa by passing CHSPE test ( calif test to graduate early). Started community college immediately and has 4.0 . 50 units so far. Not much EC though. But had a lot when in hs. Works 30 hrs a week. Good luck everyone!
Non-ttp Marshall applicant here too! Applying as a junior can’t wait to hear back!
Have any marshall non-ttp applicants heard back yet?
@thedailyjav not that I know of. We probably won’t hear back until like April 20th
@Capital_Dan what makes you think the 20th? Just curious
@thedailyjav In the 4 years that I’ve been on this forum, a large chunk of people are usually notified the week of April 20th or so; it’s the first big wave of acceptances Since it’s basically almost the 20th, I’m not sure that the wave is going to start significantly earlier than it has in the past.
@zettasyntax Do you recall any viterbi decisions coming out around that time?
@csumit From the year that I was accepted (2015), I remember a Viterbi guy that got an SGR during this first wave in April. The bulk of Viterbi stuff is usually during the second big wave in late May, but I mean it’s possible for a few Viterbi decision to trickle out beforehand.
@zettasyntax what about the wave for dornsife if you recall? Thanks
