2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

I honestly think it has to do with having the necessary prerequisites completed

@sunnydramatic Did you apply last year as a freshman or transfer applicant?

@csumit Transfer. Had all requirements completed

Hmmm I’m going to email my advisor about this

@zettasyntax I was thinking it might be the math class I’m taking right now as well, I satisfied the math requirement for algebra my first semester, but I’m taking the ge math level course this semester. Do junior transfers who are sgr’d have a high chance of being rejected?

I sent in my course syllabi (hoping that they’d accept my classes for the MATH 118 and WRIT 150 reqs). I sent the writing one in kinda late (aka a few days ago). I hope they’re able to seem ‘em. I’m 99% sure this is why I don’t see the program of study thing…

I haven’t received a SGR either, and I am a junior transfer.

@sunnydramatic I don’t have “Program of Study confirmed” under my eligibility checks, only citizenship and satisfactory academic progress are shown on mine.

@Elena1355 from what I’ve seen here it’s mostly just SGRs. I think a few people got in but can’t remember right now.

Can someone proofread an email I am going to send to my admissions counselor? Just want to make it perfect haha.

Also, when you email your counselors, do you say, “Dear First Name,” or Dear. Mr./Ms. Last Name," or what? :stuck_out_tongue:

@aznboi4981 dear mr. last name

@aznboi4981 I highly suggest to be proper, if you have never emailed them before, and send “Dear Mr./Mrs./Ms. Last name”. If their signature says something different like “Tim” or “Lisa”, when they reply, then it would be safe to consider them as such afterwards.

Did anyone applying Viterbi get the “Program of Study confirmed” under eligibility checks? because i didn’t get one and I’m scared

I haven’t emailed her in like two months, so I will say Ms. ___ again. Thanks!

@Kvadhan789 yeah I see it and applied for Viterbi

Maybe I should email Financial Aid about this not my admissions counselor?

@aznboi4981 what are you sending? If it’s just the lack of program of study thing it’s not like they’re going to tell you if you’re in or not.

@Kvadhan789 Where?

@csumit Well, I initially worded the email to my admissions counselor. I contacted her two months ago about the math prerequisite for Marshall since I wanted to know if my math course was equivalent; she, however, did not have the answer. So, in this new email I was drafting, I was asking if the absence of the program of study thing in the FAST portal is because of this whole course equivalency fiasco.

@a_licon Oh, that might be it then. Math is really important to them and that could very well be grounds for an SGR - even if you have a fair amount of units. I say it really depends on your counselor’s standards. My counselor rejected me and another student for the very same reason. He requested to see only our grade in math (stats), we both got B’s, and we were both rejected. We went to the same exact community college and everything :frowning: So this guy’s standards must have been really high. He no longer works at USC though. The year I got rejected, another guy got a C in business calc and he got into Marshall, so it really is dependent on your counselor.

@aznboi4981 Yeah, I agree with @csumit. There’s no way your counselor would say anything about that. If she does, she will likely say to contact the FA office who will then you nothing. I remember back in my days with the old OASIS thing, we actually knew we were admitted a day or two before getting our acceptance letters and when people called to ask, they were told nothing by the admissions office, lol :stuck_out_tongue: They won’t entertain such questions.

@aznboi4981 If it helps, I don’t have that under my financial aid either… I am on a quarter system at a UC and was able to complete my pre-requisites after my winter quarter, and the grades for all of them were sent two weeks ago through the portal. They should have it in the system by now, and still I don’t have that under my financial aid. I don’t believe that message is an indication for the completion of pre-requisites, but I could be wrong.
