My counselor told me that they determine equivalency after admission. This threw me for a loop because in my case, there is no articulation agreement (just a few courses) between my school and USC. How would they know if I meet the prerequisites or not if they determine equivalency after admission?
@aznboi4981 Have you looked at the articulation histories instead of the agreements? My current school doesn’t have an articulation agreement with USC, but the articulation history shows the courses and their credit/equivalencies that students have transferred to USC in the past from the school. While these credits/equivalencies change slightly year to year, the information on there is usually pretty reliable, especially for finding courses that meet the prerequisites.
Hey everyone, aside from the generic grades and all what what truly stands out to counselors and are their any slight edges an applicant can have? Im applying for Fall 2019. Thank you
@ernesto98 Grades are by far the most important factor. The transfer process is a lot different than a freshman application. They can already see that you are succeeding in college, they just want to see that you can handle the USC workload. When I met with my admission counselor she told me that to focus on grades and not extracurriclars.
I imagine a big name internship related to your field would stand out, but only if you have the grades.
If you can’t tell already lol just get high grades in the right classes. There isn’t much you can do besides that.
My daughter doesn’t have that message either regarding program of study. She has pre requisites complete etc . I don’t think not having that message has anything to do with prereqs complete or not.
@aznboi4981 I thought that was the case, but I went back to my 2017-2018 FAST and it’s not listed, and I was rejected, assuming they looked over my application and everything. I don’t think we should be stressing out too much about it, but it is interesting seeing that some of us have it and others don’t
Looks like a lot of people are getting a SGR right now… If I haven’t got one yet is it safe to assume that I am either rejected or accepted? Because I am a sophomore transfer and I heard they usually process soph transfer first (at least this is the trend from last year’s thread) Can anyone confirm?
@sctransfer18 No. It’s possible to be accepted without an SGR and there’s no way they’ve gone through all applications already. For example no one has heard anything from Viterbi.
Under my FA page it says “Your financial aid application is currently in review. Please Note: We will notify you during the review process if additional documents are required. Financial Aid Summaries for transfer students will be released in early May.”
Does this mean you get a FA summary regardless if you get in or not?
Guys if you go to USC financial aid website, it talks about eligibility checks briefly. It says that in order to receive financial aid from USC you need to meet certain requirements aka eligibility checks. The first one is a citizenship or legal residency, the second one is the SAP that is also listed but they explain that this is not about getting financial aid but maintaining it. (for instance, they look at your grades a semester later and see if you keep the same amount of financial aid). And then it also says you must meet other requirements like be enrolled in a program of study at usc (which makes sense because why would they give financial aid to someone who isn’t enrolled in the school) so that is why I believe the “Program of Study” under eligibility checks might be a hint that you got in if you have it. It means you have met that eligibility. I wouldn’t get my hopes up 100 percent but in my personal opinion, I think that it is a good thing. But for those who don’t have it, RELAX. They have obviously not yet reviewed the applications for the entire pool of transfer applicants. I think having it might mean something but not having it CERTAINLY DOES NOT mean anything.
