Hey everyone. How much do yall think the admissions counselors take the upward grade trend very seriously? In other words is it significant in their eyes? thank you
The program of study HAS to mean something… time will tell. Let’s hope we all get in. [-O<
@tytransfer I never knew about articulation histories until you mentioned this! I’ve been concerned about whether my community college’s English course was equivalent to WRIT 130 at USC, a mandatory requirement for Marshall. My CC is out of California and I was unsure. Now I can rest easy. Thank you.
@BBBBB3 WRIT 150 is Marshall’s req.
@aznboi4981 WRIT 130 and 150 are the same class
@NotLonelyIsland Oops - on my articulation history, a class I was exempt from because of AP credit met WRIT 130… But USC doesn’t accept AP credits for AP Lit? The class at my institution is a prereq for another writing course (Humanities Readings) which is another reading and writing course… I am thinking it would equate to USC’s WRIT 150…
@aznboi4981 Yeah same so on my articulation agreement there is no class equivalent to 150 at my school but there are classes equivalent to 130. My counselor said in an email that both are the same class. They don’t take any English credits for AP English but yeah it helps you waive prereqs for WRIT 130. Hopefully the class you’re taking/took is equivalent.
It’s so hard coming from a small 4 year LAC… Course equivalencies are such a headache. I’m starting to think I was better off just going to a CC for two years.
@csumit Well, when I applied again, I was able to see my financial aid status for the 2014-2015 (the year I was rejected) and it was still in review over a year later, lol I don’t believe they would process FA for people that don’t get in. It’s too much unnecessary work.
any annenberg applicants have the program of study tab listed under eligibility checks?
@dreamschool211 my daughter is an annenberg applicant and has no program of study tab under eligibilty checks.
Hi All,
I have been following this thread for a while and I really just think everyone needs to RELAX. Looking into small changes isn’t sure answers. Lets be real, only a few of us will get in, and it will probably be the ones with connections (yes that is a thing, ask any kid from LA). If you get into USC, great! But if you don’t, who cares. You will be fine no matter what. It’s at most 4 years of your life, and a degree with their name on it. USC won’t determine your happiness OR success. All of that is up to you. Good luck
@aznboi4981 RELAX. Do not email your counselor over mediocre things like that, you’re only giving him/her a headache, and they aren’t going to tell you anything. And stop making excuses for everything. Don’t be the person who always has an excuse for failing. If you don’t get in you just don’t. It means it wasn’t a right fit. You can be qualified but it’s all about fit.
@topcheddercheese You’re a little late. I established I was not emailing her. And secondly, I’m not making excuses? The fact of the matter is my prerequisites will most likely be my downfall… that’s all there is to it.
@aznboi4981 not sure if this is true, but i think if you dont meet the pre reqs. but they like you. they’ll admit undecided
@aznboi4981 that’s an excuse…And I’m not trying to argue. I’m just saying to relax about it all. What’s gonna happen will happen.
@Kvadhan789 Nah, they wouldn’t admit a junior as undecided.
@topcheddercheese It’s not an excuse; it’s fact. They automatically reject if you do not have the prerequisite completed. It’s a simple google search. My current school is terrible when it comes to course equivalency with other schools. But overall, I am relaxed. I don’t appreciate you just coming in here out of nowhere and hollering, “RELAX,” when what you’re talking about was already discussed yesterday.
You are going to get in! :)>- and live forever :))
Financial aid is doing checklists of info they need, completely separately from admissions.
There is nothing on the website that is going to indicate if you got in or not. They have been doing this for decades, they are very aware of what they are doing and are not going to provide hints with subtle changes on the website (they aren’t clueless). Having program of study confirmation or not means nothing. But I disagree with connections meaning anything either, they aren’t casting a movie, this is college admissions, and it isn’t 1972.
Some TTP have heard, many haven’t yet (that is normal)
A few regular transfers have heard (non-TTP), but a big wave hasn’t happened yet (that is normal)
SGRs aren’t good or bad, they just need more info - but it does mean it will take more time
A wave usually happens around April twenty-something
But many don’t hear until May/June as they turn in SGRs or post grades
I emailed my counselor earlier in the year if a class I was taking would satisfy WRIT 150. She said there was no clear equivalent to WRIT 150 at my school and that the class I was taking could work depending on the syllabus but if it wasn’t transferable they could waive it for admission and I would have to take it at USC. I think it’s inconvenient but it doesn’t mean you won’t be admitted if you don’t have the required course.
