Still going back and forth between SB’s Psychological and Brain Sciences BS and Davis’ Psych BA. I know I mentioned this earlier. People have said pick to BS if you want to have a more science based background which seems obvious. At this point I’m not really sure if I want that though, so that doesn’t give me much clarity. I have also read they’re both equally acceptable when applying to grad school.

I’m interested in clinical psychology as of now, but that is subject to change. I’m very open. BA seems like the easier route to take, but will that close doors for me if I want to do something in the health field?

Is anyone else debating between BA and BS or have some insight about pros/cons? Which are you going with and why?

Hi everyone! Congrats to you all, I’m so happy we’ve reached the end of this long and stressful journey!
Here’s my stats:
MAJOR: Psychology
MAJOR PRE-REQUISITES: Done for others, missing a few for UCSB
IGETC: done by spring
GPA: 3.47
Applied to: CSUEB, Chico State, Sacramento State, Fresno State (later withdrew), UCSC, UCSB, UCD
Accepted: CSUEB, Chico, Sacramento State, UCSB (attending), UCD (TAG)
Rejected: UCSC

@queen_ofthenorth I’m actually in a similar position as you. I love both UCD and UCSB, ultimately it came down to liking SB’s curriculum better because although it’s definitely more difficult, it’s slightly more interdisciplinary than the curriculum at Davis. Also, I feel like I could get more out of my degree with a BS. Definitely check out the major requirements for each school and compare the two, that’s what helped me!

@queen_ofthenorth I’d recommend looking at and comparing the classes and requirements for BA vs BS. Best of luck!

@randomtransfer @jedenic I’ve looked at Davis’ curriculum but I should look at Santa Barbara too.

I know I have all the requirements complete for Davis’ BA program so I could immediately start upper division classes which is nice. Sb I’m missing a bio class but mostly done. I didn’t realize Davis offered a BS program so I’m not really considering it because I’m missing a bunch of major prep and don’t want to play catch up.

Late update but I’ve committed to UCLA!
I’m concerned about how competitive my GPA will be once I graduate because LA will definitely be rigorous and I need a high GPA for grad school.
But I’ll just do my best and will likely start emailing/applying for research opportunities before Fall starts.
