2025 Columbia Waitlist Thread

I sure am hoping you’re right haha!

Not sure

They might do what Dartmouth did and say the class is full as of now, but they will continue monitoring it throughout the summer (gap year kids, waitlist movement at other schools, etc) :frowning:

May close like other top schools

I found this on Reddit:
“yeah I also just called Columbia and he said that they’re sending out an email in the next week with an update about the waitlist. When I tried to ask if it’s about closing the waitlist, he said they don’t know. Personally, I think since that email is going to everyone, it is either an email about closing the waitlist or maybe asking people if they still want to stay on it into June in case more spots somehow open. Not looking good for us, fam :(“
————————————
I personally interpret this as not necessarily bad news. I’m guessing that next Thursday will have some movement since Wednesday is the response deadline for those who got in, and it’s very probable that some of them will decline their spots. I tend to be optimistic, though.

Columbia, if you’re reading this, I know you can’t make your class bigger but if you accept me, I’ll fit in; the campus won’t feel crowded, just believe me, lol. “The lion within me refuses to give up”; it’s hard to move on without seeing that congratulations video in my portal.

Good luck, everyone! I hope we hear some great news soon.

they admitted very few students this week.

For the sake of information, I got off the waitlist as a CC econ major Wednesday night.

Cornell seemed to take many applicants off of their waitlist before May 3rd. Then they had extension after extension of their deadlines. I cannot help wondering if that affected movement at all on waitlists? I know that no one can really answer that question. Lol.

The other thing is that parts of NY are just reopening. Is this also a factor in both Columbia and Cornell’s slow responses? I mean, this could also be a staff thing.:face_with_monocle: IDK.

Weekend

weekend?

Responses tend to be slow because the universities have to re-review all of their applications.

Hard

Non news until next week after the weekend

Question - getting off of Columbia’s waitlist is non-binding, right?

Correct. You still have to accept or decline.
