So how’s everybody feeling about this waitlist? (Laughs nervously…)
@mattyhan not super confident but trying to mentally prepare myself for a long wait that probs won’t amount to anything.
i’m thinking some schools with really big WLs are more like on the lines of courtesy waitlists/soft rejections…while others smaller…?
Made an account literally just for this… I’m trying not to get my hopes up since the chances are so slim, but it’s a chance nonetheless. Columbia’s literally my dream school and I’m kicking myself for not applying early
@waitlistedlion I feel that so much. I cant believe i let myself get talked into applying so other place early, which wasn’t my dream
Haha, I got waitlisted at 5 Ivies, including Columbia. Good thing is that I already got in to one of my two favorite schools. I wanted to decline all the waitlists on the spot, since I think I’m just gonna be waiting around for nothing, but my parents made me keep my name on the list (in their words, it’s not gonna hurt you)… Ughhh! Anyway, Palo Alto, here I come!!
I got waitlisted here and to penn. I feel like so many people got waitlisted on here, it seems way too high of a number.
Columbia says that they “advise against the submission of any additional recommendations.” Why is this? If we are getting an additional rec letter, can we just submit it anyways (or get our GC to submit it or something?)
@anon9362 Last year they waitlisted 2000 people, so we aren’t alone.
@Adaephon Columbia waitlisted 2000 people last year?!
Is anyone here taking a gap year to reapply?
What’s the source on them waitlisting 2000 people? That number seems way too high.
@Leafex I found these statistics on niche. I’m not sure how reliable they are, as I can’t find Columbia’s CDS online.
@holmes975 congrats! i’d kill to go to stanford. i got waitlisted at 5 as well…
it says 1,500 took their waitlist spot and i’m thinking not all of the 1,500 send in a statement etc, but still 45 out of 1,500 are pretty terrible odds…
I got waitlisted at only columbia rejected almost everywhere. They said the latest they will share results is July 1st which is really frustrating because we can’t really commit to a school…
I got wait listed almost everywhere (including safety schools) so it looks like I’m taking a gap year, unless some sort of miracle happens with Columbia
Hi, there.
An international student. Waitlisted by Columbia and several other LACs. Only one offer from my safety school.
Probably going to take a gap year.
@PolarLiuLicht @loveto Do you think a waitlist this year will make our applications more favourable next year?
I’m just afraid that a straight out rejection will happen as competition increases for the same number of places.
I was rejected at all the ivies I applied to, and WLed at Columbia. Just expecting the worst.
Have folks sent in their supplementary statement yet?
I wonder how many people accepted their places on the waitlist…i’m hoping not too many considering how quiet this thread is. wishful thinking :((
I’m going to submit my statement tomorrow or Wednesday. I don’t want to mess my statement up, so I’m getting people to read it.
I’m waiting to submit my statement. There’s no priority if you get it in tomorrow vs getting it in May 1, so I’m going to wait it out so that I can have as many updates as possible. Doubt I’ll get any awards or anything or that my statement will even prevent my ultimate rejection, but there’s always a chance!
i guess I should probably wait a bit too so that I can include updates i’ll have by the end of this week. It doesn’t look like columbia gives out waitlist acceptances until mid-may at the earliest anyhow?
