Yes. My son has Syracuse. Hope the predicted snow isn’t an issue.
Has anyone had a student go through acting callbacks for Carnegie Mellon this year? I have a student who is away at school who did get a callback for tomorrow. She cannot find anything about what to bring. I heard to plan to have a larger space because of redirects, but I am worried that they will want her classical full body. (Trying to figure out how to set up her limited virtual space at her school.) Help!
No news from UCLA here either.
Same. Another layer of stress.
They are calling for 3-8 inches here in NYC on Saturday. Once you get here it will not be an issue, subways, buses and feet will work just fine! By sunday the city should be clear, and the city does a good job of keeping up. The predictions have been off on most of the previous storms this winter!
There’s an attachment in the GetAccepted message with audition details. For acting, they want to see full body. Two monologues (1 classical/1 contemporary) + a backup in case they ask for a third. Be prepared with why CMU and why acting and questions to ask. BAL!
Not sure if this helps but if you use a lap top and place it on a stack of books so you can tilt the camera down you can fit the whole body in the shot even with limited space. Good luck!!
Thanks! We’re getting to town on Friday so hopefully we’ll be fine. D has to be back in DC Sunday AM for a virtual audition so the train home is really the biggest worry.
Thank you!!
My daughter received the following message from USC: Thank you for your patiences as we work through our review process. I have just been informed by the faculty that they will need a little more time to review your file. They have assured me that we will have final decisions about our callback on Tuesday, February 1. Once received, I will pass along an update…" She applied for BFA Acting
I also got the same message and so did two of my friends. I think they sent it to everyone but I am not sure.
Due to sheer volume of applicants and limited amount of spots, UC’s don’t audition everyone they admit and artistic admission is highly tied to academic admission. They are pretty open about their process, however. You can write to them and ask or find info on their web site or social media. In our year MT auditions were in late Feb, academic decisions mid-March - all on the same day for all students. UCLA admits about 15 for MT and 15 for acting. Irvine only about 8 for MT and only via audition after Freshman year. San Diego is the larger acting program. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your detail info!
Now i understand why everyone says it’s a rollercoaster process. Glad that while swallowing rejections, D is very much enjoying her auditions, especially while meeting some great adjudicators, like the CMU’s, who won’t let her leave empty handed but giving some golden advice … Now anxiously wishing for today’s 2nd round notice! Even being altered to Acting from MT doesn’t seem hurting after all. Thankfully D is going through all these when she’s so fresh, helping her to get ready for the much much more competitive world ahead.
My daughter as well and several other people from a FB page too.
Thank you. I am in awe of all of you. Your patience is indeed a virtue!
Thank you, as well. May I ask which FB page?
15? Wow. It’s like getting a golden ticket!
Yes there is a page called BFA Acting Dreams. Really helpful. BFA Acting Dreams | Facebook
Wonderful, thank you.
We got the same message-wonder how many get called back? We couldn’t find it on the FAQ.
