To those who were waitlisted; let’s embark on this waiting journey…sigh! :-w
wondering what the odds are…how many people do you think they waitlisted?
Any tips on how best to convert a waitlist spot into an acceptance?
Accepted to UChicago, Dartmouth, Cornell and Berkeley- but waitlisted at my first choice Columbia and the chances of getting off are close to nil I suppose
I feel like it depends on how many people who were accepted take their offers
Waitlisted as well and I heard that it’s very rare to get off of Columbia’s waitlist.
My daughter was wait listed as well. I have also heard it’s extremely rare to get pulled off.
Ok waitlisters. I just did some research that Columbia never release their waitlist stats. This is not because getting off waitlist is rare, but because the number of people getting off wl varies A LOT. Like in 2014, about 20 people on waitlist got in eventually (and there was even an extended waitlist), but in 2015 nobody on waitlist got off the list. That’s being said, every year’s stats depends on the vacancy of attended students. Currently, we really need to know approximately how many people got waitlisted by Columbia and how many accepted students decided to attend Columbia. Columbia knows that many accepted students will not choose to attend, so they accepted more students than they need to. Besides, we still have a month to write our supplement letter of continuing interest. We should also discuss how to write this thing. Sometimes a decent letter of continuing interest really helps you a lot.
Woo the waitlist
im debating on whether or not i want to take the waitlist. i got into barnard, an amazing school, and i would still have access to columbia resources. but i might like the feel of a big university than a small all-girls one… idk
When should our supplements be in by?
debating whether or not to stay on the waitlist as well. haven’t visited columbia, and probably won’t be able to if i get in off the waitlist.
@HarryZ527 I second that! Letters of interest could be the difference
@sulfuoco from what I’ve heard Barnard is great & you still have the Columbia atmosphere / can take Columbia classes… I’m waitlisted as well and wish I would have applied to Barnard! But you can always plan on going to Barnard and still stay on the waitlist
Waitlisted as well! Anyone know if there’s any way to increase odds of getting accepted from the waitlist? Like, will accomplishing something relatively impressive between now and May 1st significantly help?
Just sent in my LOCI
I am waitlisted too. I really doubt that I have any chance of getting accepted, but Let’s anyway hope or the best… Who knows how many students were waitlisted?
Any ideas how to write a Letter of continuing interest?
wait so should our list of updates (new activities, etc) not be included in our letter of continued interest? is the letter of continued interest like another “why columbia?” basically???
Has anybody here been waitlisted for SEAS?
