21 Feb status change

According to DoDMERB site, my admission status changed 21 Feb. I have heard nothing since...nothing from MOC; nothing from BGO; nothing from USNA. I understand that there is a lag between the change reflected at DoDMERB and actually getting the paperwork in the mail. Has anyone else whose status changed 21 Feb received anything from USNA? Forget about your MOC and/or BGO, they are too individual to be compared from one case to the next.
Thanks.

My status changed the same day yours did. On that very same day I received a call from my Congressman telling me I had been appointed. I have not received a package from the Academy yet, but I think it takes up to two weeks to come in. If I were you I would call the admissions office at the Academy and see if you can confirm you have been appointed. They will not get mad about it. Good Luck and let us know.

Your BGO cannot help you on medical issues, due to HIPAA (privacy) issues. We are only told if you are qualified, incomplete or rejected. Literally nothing more and that data probably lags your receiving it from anyone.

Also, your BGO will know AFTER you do that you've been offered an appointment. USNA first notifies your MOC and gives him/her a week to call you and congratulate you. That individual may or may not do so. Then, they send out the appointment packet to you. THEN they update the BGO system. So, we are the last to know. Sad, but true.

Well, today's mail brought another goose egg.
I was aware that some, but not all, MOC's like to notify candidates of an offer of appointment, but did not realize that BGO's would be last to learn. Tues will be day #12 since my status changed...I'll just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

My status changed the same day yours did, they mailed my packet out on wednesday of last week(I called admissions), and it has yet to arrive. I'm betting on tomorrow... Don't worry, yours is in the mail!

Do your status change(s) indicate "Offer Extended?" Or does it just say status change as of.......
My son's says as of March 4, so I called admissions and they said they don't give that information on the phone-as to whether it's an appointment or rejection.
Thanks and I sure do hope it means appointment!

I'm just going to copy-paste from my page here:

Agency: US Naval Academy
Admission Status Change Date: 21-FEB-2008
Current Medical Status: Qualified (as of 28-SEP-07 )

No indication givin on the dodmerb or candidate websites as to admission status in my case. I called admissions and asked what my admissions status was, the lady told me she had good news, etc. Maybe you just got the wrong receptionist? Best of luck to your son... I know exactly how he is feeling right now...

If he got a scholastically qualified letter... count on an appointment, they likely won't reject any 3Q's until after they take kids off the national waiting list. If he hasn't been scholastically Q'd, it could go either way, or NAPS.

Today brought congrats letter from my MOC. 12 days since change of status posted on DoDMERB and I'm still waiting for the actual, real, honest-to-goodness, admissions packet from USNA. Still, the MOC's letter was unambiguous.. an offer of appointment to USNA 2012 is on its way.

try to be patient TCO. "Hurry up and wait" will become words that are near and dear... ;-)

Mine came today.

Packet from admissions office arrived today...13 days after status change.
Others can gauge their timelines accordingly.

DODMERB says my admission status changed yesterday. As far as medical goes, it says Pending Waiver Submission/Review since 9/24/07. This makes me think I got rejected, as if I were appointment I would imagine that it would say Medical Waiver Granted or something. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Mine change 15 FEB with NALOA subagency...still waiting on waiver as of 26 FEB. Admissions says I'm scholastically Q'd...at least were all pulling our hair out together :)

Thanks to all of you! TCO and GNBA congrats!
WanttobeaMdn it sounds as though you did receive an appointment. I read somewhere that Medicals are granted automatically when appointments are given, however, DoDMERB wouldn't be aware of your status other than "changed," so they didn't modify your medical waiver info. I'm pulling for you!
For anyone else out there who needs a waiver, son's BGO told us there's a person at USNA that deals specifically with that issue.

mdfromct, Im sorry to ask this. But, shouldnt your son be doing the calling to the admissions office to check his status for appointment?

Please don't be sorry, it's a very good question. Yes he should be doing the calling and usually is the person who communicates with them.
I just happened to log on and saw that his status changed and got so excited I couldn't wait so I called to inquire.
Due to his EC's he doesn't return home until late at night but this particular day actually ended early enough that he was able to catch his admissions director who was in his office long past normal business hours.

I completely understood why you called, seeing your moniker I took it as you live in CT, which meant if your child is like mine, they leave at 7 a.m. and return after 7 at night due to ec and work. There would be no chance to converse with regionals unless they break school rules and call from their cell. What our DS does is email the regional or calls his ALO. The ALO and the regionals have always emailed back quickly. Our ALO also than can call the next day and call our ds back at night.
