I'm repeating a reply to another post but am now concerned as to whether a status change can mean a letter of rejection is being sent in the mail? Has anyone ever heard of this? Admissions told me that could be the status change, and it doesn't mean an appointment letter is on the way.

I would assume it could be either. I've heard of some people being rejected after having a status change.

Yup, you're correct. In this case it meant rejection, both to NAPS and the Academy.

I am so very sorry for your son and your family. This must be so hard for him. And you. Any young person who applies to the service academies has my utmost respect. He must be a really great kid.

Sorry to hear that, but the good news is that he was only rejected for this year.

He can keep trying until he's 23 years old.

mdfromct: I'm sorry! I echo the others in extending my respect for you and yours.

mdfromct - My sentiments are also expressed as the previous posts to you and your son. I remember your previous post and the situation involving your family. Your story stood out. All the best to your son in his future decisions.

It's so kind of all of you to offer consolation and encouragement. I'd like to congratulate the candidates who've been appointed also,
However, not lacking persistence and optimism, my son and I will not give up the ship.
He hasn't received a rejection letter in writing which is a good sign, and even if candidates do get one, it doesn't mean the end. Many candidates have gotten appointments even after being rejected. Not to offer false hope to my son or any others but until the gates are locked on I-Day, we must keep in mind Nominations weren't earned for nothing, and they sure don't come easily as we all know.
So, congrats and good luck to all of you and your families. I'll keep you posted. Thank you again.

mdfromct, It definitely isn't over yet, but if it's over for this year a lot of candidates get in on a second try. That's where my daughter is now. It took a little bit to shake off the rejection but she's stronger now.

Hang in there.

cougar, did your daughter get accepted on her second try? what was different about her application the 2nd time that you think made her successful the 2nd time around when she was unsuccessful the 1st time?
